Leaves a smoother / cleaner / plainer / unbroken surface? *shrug*

Personally, I prefer the debadged look too. Don't really care what other people looking at my car think :P

Now I just have to tidy up the bad job the previous owner did of removing one of the badges

There are plenty of reasons people choose to do it, I can't personally speak for everyone but my guess would be the two main reasons would be as Lanius said, purely a cosmetic thing (although why you'd bother on a Caldina I don't know as the rear is ugly as sin anyway) and the other reason would be trend.

Other reasons would include as others have mentioned panel work (Rust, accident damage etc), Thieving bastards have either walked off with them (or broken them in an attempt and no badge looks better than a broken one), Hell, some have even taken them off just to confuse onlookers, especially those that have done front end swaps or have a dramatic kit.

I pulled mine off to give them a good clean, after i cut and polished were they were it has tiny parts out of the paint, almost like the glue on the back of the badges has etched into the paint.

in some cases the removal of factory badges, and I mean cars in general here not just the Caldina, can give a cleaner look to the lines of it, personally I have never done it, but do admit some of the vehicles that I have seen without them have looked a lot better

sorry to dredge up such an old post but i've finally got round to posting a pic of my caldina that is completely debadged. Sorry for the poor picture quality ( 2mp camera phone was all i had at the time) but it at least shows what cal's look like with no rear badges. I personally like it far more plus ppl have no idea what it is till they see the bonnet

I've never understood it....

Never understood it either. Its ok if they are removed properly I guess otherwise it looks sh*t. A bit like those people who remove their rear spoilers and leave the holes to rust - looks worse than before  Seems to be a trend with alot of S14 owners lol
