This is true because they all have set concrete blocks put in place then sometimes but not in all cases seal placed over top. It gives the same effect as driving over a well used new zealand bridge.

d1 mule wrote:why does everyone insist on having excessivly wide tires on street cars i mean come on 265s and 235 it just a tad overkill.
the top D1 guys only run 235s and grip is paramount in top level drifting... id bet 95% of the cars with 265s couldnt loose traction if they tried...

why do people pay $300+ each for tyres for their road car when realistically they'll never see more than 135 kph and they never see anything but std road useage........

i understand what d1 mule says, sometimes its over kill even for track,
like 205 is over kill for a ae86 even 195 is quite a lot of grip

i watched the making of gone in 60 seconds ages ago and they said the stunt drivers wont drive the cars unless it had bigger side walls and the creators said they where not happy unless they had very low profile tires for looks, so if you look carefully in the stunt shots the tires a bigger then they are when there taking still shots of the car,

I beg to differ, 195's are no way near enough grip, all though, I must admit thats with a 45 profile, so they are s**t tyres really.

I'm going to try 50 series next time and if that doesn't work I'll go wider.

According to this site:

http://autospeed.com/cms/A_108915/article.html

tyre pressure plays more of a role than tyre size when it comes to grip.

yeah you adjust your tire pressure according to the day but just talking tires with low side wall, 195 45 14 yoko a048 have plenty of grip for a ae86, and B grid 2 & 3 195 50 15 series is wicked grip in rough conditions, the yoko even out performed my z2000 semi slicks way back when they where fresh, i'd never run anything under 50 series on nz roads, i dont want my dish to be cracked:cry:

extra "insurance".

Why buy a car with more than 60HP* when thats enough to get you to the speed limit(eventually!) anyway?

*arbitrary number pulled from my neither regions... I seem to recall my 70s Hillman had ~60HP, but it was a long time ago, although it would do 150km/h if going down a steep hill, and the driver had big hairy ones.
