it would be a monumental choke to lose it now!
but..... stranger has happened!!

with the toyota driver... i really have no idea!

Man whats with the MacLaren lovers in this joint. There is no way they pitted Massa just so Kimi could get past. Everyone at Ferrari would know how it rolls now, Kimi is the only one left with any vague chance, Massa would have just slowed down just a little bit, which is all it takes in F1 and Kimi would have gone past. "No team orders" is a load of crap. Just cause they don't say it over the radio doesn't mean they don't exist. Ferrari just suffered from an appaling case of mis-management and attempted sneakyness (by not going out on extreme wets) and only Kimi's mad skill allowed him to salvage some decent points from it. He almost came second in the race, despite having to fight his way up from the back in zero visibility, that is driving, not little old Lewis sitting out in front with good visibility the whole race.

It really bothers me that despite the fact that his team were found guilty of having an illgotten unfair advantage, the drivers are allowed to keep the points they gained driving the cars with this advantage. It is only because of the cult of Hamilton and the popularity he has, especially here in Britain. If it weren't for him they would have lost the driver points too. They cheated and got caught, tough luck MacLaren. And for the the doubters, read the full report, sending emails to your drivers detailing intimate knowledge of your main oppositions vehicles, is about as blatant as it gets.

And its all because he's British and he's doing so well for a rookie driver. Of course he is! There are 3 reasons why Lewis Hamilton is doing so well. 1. He has been karting since he was like 4, and from watching documenturies he dad seems like the kinda guy that doesn't let him eat every time he loses. 2. He had his racing career funded by an F1 team for like the last 7 years, which allowed him to having the privaledged possition of skipping all the hard work in lower teams that truely great drivers like the Schu had to do, and jumping straight into a car next to the reigning campion. 3. His team are cheating! The team that won no races last season pulled out all stops, got on board a new sponsor, spent heaps of cash, stole from the best team there is Ferrari, and now are unstoppable. Couple that to the fact that Ferrari also lost their best people when Schu left and their reliability went out the window with them, therefore taking away the only real competition. So we're stuck with a kid, who no doubt is a frikken great driver, but who will go down in history as being better than he actually is. Kimi is a better driver, and hopefully he will win next years championship. After that it can be the turn of the new generation, but Kimi deserves at least one championship.

Then its Rosberg's turn. The Vettel. :)

i disagree with pretty much every point you made.


ferrari pitted massa so kimi could pass.

look at how long they held him
no way he needed 5 seconds of fuel to do 11 laps.

if massa slowed, and let kimi past. then ferrari would have been open to punishment, like mclaren were earlier in the year with the pitstop incident.
by pitting for "needed" fuel they remove that.

as for the rest, its clear to me you havnt read the full transcript. or if you did... you didnt understand it properly

Thread shows McLaren fans are as passionate as Tifosi, which, I think, is allowable.

It is obvious the powers that be have decided Hamilton is to win the Drivers championship this year. Anyone that attempted to pass him on Sinday was black flagged. And the protest about his brake checking behind the pace car, which caused the Vettel/Weber get together, was thrown out before the ink had a chance to dry on the form.

So who's replacing Ralf...Timo Glock???he's just won the GP2 championship

My reading of the transcript was that:
1. Two of the McLaren drivers discussed settings/configurations that Ferrari use, referring to information provided by Nigel Stepney.
2. They did not do anything other than discussing the information and made no use of it on the vehicles.
3. Because possession of another team's info is illegal McLaren were caught red-handed and wore the consequences.
4. The FIA had promised immunity from penalty for the drivers in return for "dobbing in" the team.

Ergo, after giving the drivers immunity it was not really possible to then penalise them by banning the team and preventing them from racing. Because there was no proof that the Ferrari data was actually used (and on the contrary proof was provided that it was only discussed and was never used) the McLaren cars themselves are legal.

Do you really think that Kimi did not provide Ferrari with all manner of information about suspension settings, tyre pressures, weight distribution and other more detailed info about the 2006 McLaren when he moved to Ferrari at the start of the year? A certain range of beer billboards come to mind right about now...

Yes I am a McLaren supporter (thanks to its Kiwi roots) and have been a fan of Hamilton since he started racing in the GP2 class so feel free to take my opinions with a grain of salt. Take off the (Ferrari red?) rose-coloured glasses however and you might actually realise that McLaren simply designed the better package and had the best driver at setting up vehicles (<cough> Alonso <cough>). Remember that McLaren were fast right out of the box during winter testing but the Stepney info didn't arrive until racing started.

Meanwhile, this week's MotorSport eNews has an interesting article about the Alonso-Hamilton relationship. Turns out Hamilton doesn't want Alonso as a team mate any more than Alonso wants Hamilton! (http://enews.mnews.com.au, page 8-9)

Audi I'm with you with some of your points.Don't get me wrong Lewis Hamilton is a great driver but the way the English commentators go on about him you have to wonder if there is anybody else out there sometimes its just to much.

I agree to that Kimi Raikkonen's drive from last on the grid with 4 pitstops was the drive of the race for sure no question and to get on the podium yep easily the best drive of the race.

As for the FIA proceedings well Mclaren got caught red handed and the 100 mill should just settle that.

End of the day Ferrari are just short of the mark this year I think them losing Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne are huge as especially with Ross Brawn I believe Ferrari would'nt be having these reliability issues that are costing them.

I think the reason why they go on about Hamilton so much is its been awhile since theres been a British world champ I think the last being Damon Hill so hence why the Brits rant on about him so much.

there was a protest against hamilton?
i was wondering about that during the race, in those conditions altering speed that much plus with the 5 car length rule is just asking for problems.

and i agree with the english commentators/fans comments....
they do love him...

but you have to admit he has done exceptionally well.

and wtf with "It is obvious the powers that be have decided Hamilton is to win the Drivers championship this year. Anyone that attempted to pass him on Sinday was black flagged."

ahhh, can't remember now, was it Heidfield or Kubica went up the inside and Hamilton turned in on him and they collided, Hamilton was taking a wide line on the corner and I thought fair enough, You compare with Hamilton overtaking both Ferraris at Monza it was a nothing incident but the BMW got a drive thru.

Hamilton is a good driver and he is a racer, I suppose I find it annoying that most of the other youngsters are just fast at lapping the circuit, they don't know how or don't want to go wheel to wheel with him. Makes you miss the wheel banging years of Senna, Prost and, of course, Nigel Mansell. Sure as hell Schuey wouldn't let Hamilton get away with some of the stuff he's been doing.

Interestingly enough I read a article by Jackie Stewart and a few other notables about Lewis Hamilton's driving style and all of them were in agreement that Hamilton is driving by the seat of his pants and they reckon with experience gained in the next couple of years his driving style will change.

Revvy no one here in there right mind is questioning his ability but in all fairness he has fallen into the best car and all the other young drivers ie your Kubica's,Rosberg's,Vettels cannot foot it with Hamilton as there cars just are'nt as quick.

This may sound Biased but I still believe Kimi Raikkonen is the best F1 driver on the grid this may change over the next couple of years but at the moment I reckon its very close between him and Alonso.

As far as I can see Hamilton did that because he was about to pass the saftey car. Hitting the brakes in a corner would be a no no in those conditions, and so he did the only thing he could to not pass the safety car. He then got stranded on a very wet part of the track.

Webber did the right thing and slowed so as not to overtake Hamilton, and Vettel, who lacks the experience, ran up his arse. Racing incident, Vettel's fault, he's been punished, no need to sully an already controversial F1 season with any more contentious bureaucracy.

hmmmm yeah he was pretty close to the safety car.
but it did also seem he hung back quite a while.
moving off to the side was probably to avoid what he thought may happen... and did to webber.

i guess they will look at more coverage throughout the other safety periods and make a judgement on that.

All of the drivers are having a bitch. Apparently at the drivers meeting before hand Hamilton claimed he would keep it easy behind safety car, but the whole race he was messing around, upset a lot of people.

I know my bias has already been shown, but when they started from the safety car at the beginning Lewis was accellerating then braking hard, trying to mess with Alonso, it would seem most likely that he was doing the exact same thing next time he was behind the safety car. He clearly slows right down to let the safety car get ahead, while pulling to the side so no one slams into the back of him, unfortunately Weber didn't think of that, he was busy trying not to pass the suddenly slowing Hamilton. Should Hamilton have penalised for that, I dunno, 50/50 case. If you ask me, of course yes, he was trying to get a bit of jump on those behind him by picking when he could race ahead. But that said, that's something that is damn hard to prove. So what happens, Hamilton goes on the radio and says if he gets penalised and F1 is going to be so involved with politics, then he will quit. Then of course, Hamilton the most popular thing that has happened to F1 since Senna, gets off. There was never much of a chance he was going to be penalised. I know I'm biased but I think the golden boy is starting to show his true colour.

but i do understand what you are saying in the rest of your post.
even kind of agree, although i dunno about the last bit. havnt heard about that yet.

the thing is, whats in the rules? its common practice to do what hamilton did. just usually its in dry conditions. in fact theres been a few cases of ppl running up the back of each other under the safety car.
