Engine Jolting

Postby Dirtbag » Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:42 pm

I had my engine jolting with throttle on/off movements, got the engine mounts replaced (3 of them shagged), but the jolting is still there, albiet in smaller amounts. It happens with sudden shifts of the throttle and also when coming up to an intersection in 2nd, throttling back on then when leaving intersection frequently results in a bit of a jolt. Also, i get an almost clunking sometimes when engaging the clutch again after shifting, before the mounts got replaced I thought it was just the gbox/engine moving around in the mounts, but now that it continues it has me very confused. Clutch was replaced less than a year ago with TGP item.

My next course of action is of course see if the engine returns any faults, and it seems like it could be a problem with the TPS. I think my VVT pulley is stuffed, could this be causing weird problems like the very unsmooth throttle on/off transitions?

we had a similar issue in our blacktop 20v - replacing the oxy sensor made driving a lot smoother at low speeds. Can also be TPS. Best to check for CEL codes and see what it throws back.

what sort of engine?
