st190 corona 4sfe thermostat location????

probably a dumb question but as far as i can see there's two possible locations, one on the passenger side of the block where the sensors are (the hose that goes to the top of the radiator) and one that goes to the front drivers side of the block and comes from the bottom of the radiator.

normally i'd just pull them both off to see but i've only got one gasket and once i pull them off no way to go get another one.

got bored with waiting, had a look on howstuffworks. the pics and diagrams they had showed it on the top hose side so i pulled that one off. wrong!!!!!!

ah well, pulled the other one off, thermostat was proper f*cked. all jammed up and stuff. put back together, now just need to park it in a dry spot to see how much the other seal leaks and whether its bad enough for me to bother replacing it.
