Caldina GT-T, what to look for??

Postby MasCam » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:18 pm

WOOOHOOOOO

The wifenancial controller has finally agreed to go ahead and get us a GT-T to replace the ageing primera.

What I was wondering is are there any options or things I should get/not get
on the Caldina.

We have a contact that will get us one in japan so we are able to name our spec to some degree and I already have a fairly good list drawn up, but I was wondering if there was anything that owners have found good/bad on any options etc on thier cars?

I have done the search thing and have been lurking these forums for about 6 months reading everything on GT-T's that I could find. just looking for those little extras that owners might know.

thanks for any help and looking forward to becoming a more active member now I'm getting a toyota

if you want a tiptronic without vsc from the factory the 2000+ GTT-S is a good option.

I knew someone wouldn't read the post properly

anyway

I agree that a sunroof would be a good idea and it was on the wish list

Unfortunatly.....

We accidentally got a st246 n spec with a TRD front spoiler on it and it arrives next week, and it dosn't have a sunroof oh well.

yeah I just have to get them up and i was going to wait until I get it and find out exactly what we are getting. As I mentioned it has the TRD front on it that wasn't mentioned in the spec sheet so there could possibly be other things they have missed that might catch an enthusiasts eye

So i will do a decent post about it then, its arriving next week.

Sorry to bring up an old post but what exactly is the difference between the N spec Caldina gt4 & the standared GT4?
Is it just the lsd's & recarro seats? is there a model or chasis code to tell the difference? any help appreciated

The info on these things is a bit vague

As stated
Recaro seats (fantastic)
LSD (also very good)

There is also mention on a couple of japanese sites about a sport ABS setting but it was in japlish so I could not be sure about this, I can testify that the threshold for the ABS to kick in is indeed very high but as I have not driven a non n-spec one I don't know if it is the same on all of the GT-4 caldina's Also on some parts sites, parts are sometimes listed to include the N spec specifically, but I can't at the moment remember what for.

Cheers chris, yeah alot of the info on them is very vague, or in Japanese. Damn guess i should of paid attention in japanese at school.

Out of interest what does the "n" stand for? Surely it can't mean something like group n spec. I mean come on who's gonna rally a approx 1600kg family wagon

How does LA-ST246W-PWPZZ-N for a model number grab you revvy

Also I just noticed that on the english version of the TRD site that all the stuff for the Caldina has dissapeared. Is it still available??

Also according the the owners manual all of the GT4 versions have the same suspension at least as far as ride height etc. is concerned and I am pretty sure that all grades have the engine strut brace in them.

I don't know what the N stands for? Perhaps just a nice sounding letter. there is also a C spec version of them which is the base spec GT4 so figure that one as well.

Yeah saw that one very very nice, especially like the twin exhaust pipes.

But I'm confused cause I thought the ST246W caldinas used a gen 5 3sgte where this says gen 4 ?

Be keen to see the offical word on what's different between the versions & what the 3 spec levels have different about them

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =119964685

i like this one better...cleaner lines , better rims, but more k's , off a yard so will be warrantied also in white like all other caldinas lol

a manual option would have been handy and in my mind would have added to there potiential market of buyers.

not sure about gen of it. I thought the ST215's were the gen 3 and the ST46 is the gen 4 and gen 5.... never heard of them not to say they dont excist tho
