I agree with you very much on that, It would however be a great shame if people didn't come along just for the social aspect of all of us being together as a club and just having fun - the worst that could happen with only have 4 hours of tracktime is having a shit load of fun none the less. Somethings better than nothing right?

So who hasn't got one? usually if it is a club sport basic event you can do the first 2 without a membership anyway, but you may want to check with the clerk of course as to their requirements as I would say a few people coming probably don't have one

As per our discussion earlier today, you can only do a Motorkhana / Autocross without having membership. So anyone doing the sprint will need membership to do the sprint.

Repeated for the benefit of any other readers with the same question.

But people will have to have a membership to do the afternoon events anyway. Why not just use their days membership to run sprints all day? It's not like people who don't have a club membership will be coming in the morning then going away in the afternoon and people with memberships will be coming in the afternoon... You pay up for the entire day - morning and afternoon...

Just do what I did join a club online.

I just joined Harbour Capital Car Club it was only $30 transferred the money online but I completely understand peoples predicament. It was definitely a curve ball I was'nt expecting but I really want to do the track-day so it'll take more than a curve ball to stop me.

B1NZ wrote:Almost 6 to fill, The woman wants to pull out and get a refund, I must admit I'm wondering if this was a good idea or not now, I (as did others possibly) signed up for a track day event, not a motorkhana day, so yeah a little peeved atm, now it looks like there is less than 4 hours of the actual track day, even less if the motorkhana takes longer than expected, I usually only have to pay about $20 for a motorkhana

Well this woman is starting to get a bit peeved herself. It was posted on the 4th of October that there would be a motorkhana in the morning, 9 days ago. We are well aware that it is not the ideal day to be having and that everyone would prefer a full day of track action. This is not currently possible due to the Manawatu Car Club being in charge. Brad is going to have another chat with the guy and see what (if anything) can be done, but lets assume it won't be changing.

Due to the number of pull-outs, the money that has been collected for trackday is running out. It will only just cover the hire of the track & ambulance. That means there will be nothing left for a bbq or any extra's that had been planned. Sad. But I will say this - if it gets to the point where we have to top it up from our own pockets then the sh*t will be hitting the fan and I will be looking to get it back from here.

Brad, Tristan and Sam have put a sh*tload of their own time into this with NO personal gain whatsoever. People seem to be forgetting this. And how fair would it be if we then had to put our own money into it with NOTHING in return.

I am not trying to say that people can't pull out from now, but please think of the work that has gone in so far and that it will be costing Brad and myself financially.

(2jayzgte - thank you for having a great attitude and always putting a positive spin on things :D )

Stuff you, If you went to Macca's and payed for a Big Mac and got a cheeseburger would you be happy?

I know what effort goes into organizing a megameet, funnily enough I had a hand in organizing the very first one in Wellington in 2003 when hardly anyone from Welly actually turned up, but all the out of towners that came made it worthwile in the end and everyone had a great time, I'm expecting this one to be no different.

I'm not unappreciative, I've thanked Brad previously in here somewhere for the effort he's put in, It's obviously not his fault, more the guys running the day.
Hopefully it will all workout and the costs will be covered at least.
And yes I will be participating, although not too happy with the format.

I heard a rumor that Chelles had offered to help out with running the day in her usual style but was turned down? Her days are always popular because people know the format and get what the were hoping for, there are usually people queued up wanting a place if someone drops out.
If that was true it seems a waste that her expertise wasn't used when she is less than an hour 1/2 away now 8O

I wish she had, then I wouldnt have had to have dealt with MCC. I'd love to know where all these rumours come from, there seem to be an awful lot yet no-one is bothering to ask me.

Awesome :D

You are not the only one who isn't happy with it - but unfortunately we have to make do with what we've got. I think it will turn out to be a wicked day and then we will wonder what all the fuss was about :)

Hey sweet as man, I understand, If I didn't know any better I would've gone to a local motor sport club and asked them to help as well. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Yes hopefully I'm proved wrong, I hope Brad does have a chat to these guys, but I'm assuming the permits to msnz have been done so we won't be able to change the format, maybe everyone just had 1 motorkhana test then we go to the track, Times of the day are never set in stone, we could possibly advance the track part a little? 8)

I'm very sorry if I'm coming across sounding nasty, It is not my intention to :D

Personally I am looking forward to an increased variety of events over our ususal track days! Honestly, any day I get to spend playing in the car is a good one - and especially for $85 !

I can understand peoples diappointment but there are lesson's to be learned for next time. For example getting all the money in 2 months before the event non refundable as this will take away from worrying about money coming out of the organisers pocket. Then having a set format at least a month out so there is no confusion as to what is going to go on.

On a personal note the less the numbers the more track time for those who have chosen to stick it out and participate so that will be a good thing as track time is limited to 3-4 hours. So I'm thinking at least 5 good runs for me...... :D

it should be an awesome day even with having to do the motorkhana in the morning (which isnt necesarily the ideal setup)
and im just GUTTED that my car isnt able to be out there at all :(
but thats basically out of my hands to a large degree with parts not fitting right etc

its a shame to see numbers falling short like they have so far when Brad and others have put in so much time and effort.

Im going to be a thick prick too.. So the above means you have to be a member of the car club - eg, Manawatu Car Club, to do a few laps on the track?
