Im not starting a panic, two guys I know who are in the sprints, arent a member of any car club and probley wont have read this thread, but if its not a problem then I wont bother bringing it to their attention.

Im going to be a thick prick too.. So the above means you have to be a member of the car club - eg, Manawatu Car Club, to do a few laps on the track?

You don't need to be a member of Manawatu Car Club itself.. just a member of any MSNZ Affiliated car club. Complete list available here : http://www.motorsport.org.nz/Contacts/clubcontacts.htm

You can join HCCC online from the website WWW.HCCC.ORG.NZ.

No need to start a panic This will be covered for the day.

Not quite sure what Sideros' is meaning by this however so it may pay to check.

If you want to make sure that you recieve your club card ASAP please e-mail myself at webmaster@hccc.org.nz after you have processed your application and I will pass it on to the appropriate people.

I wish she had, then I wouldnt have had to have dealt with MCC. I'd love to know where all these rumours come from, there seem to be an awful lot yet no-one is bothering to ask me.

I sure did offer :) Still have the PM with that offer.
Sorry to hear that it's not working out how you all wanted guys. :(

Has anyone gone back to the people organising it and asked for changes that will actually satisfy the entrants? Or is it too late now with NZMS permitting?

would it not be possible to cancel the permits and run a "driver training day" that doesnt need MSNZ rules? that would also mean we dont need ambos.

i cant see anything wrong with the event itself.... just i think when it was first mentioned ppl took "track day" to be what they are used to :?

Agreed on both statements there...

I've just spent some time reading all this thread and other stuff (yup home sick today and so board!). It would seem that this event was a 'normal' trackday to which most people were rapt with. The changes are a bit of a surprise and because most of the 'entrants' haven't had anything to do with a real NZ Motorsport event, the idea of having to join a club and do a few skill based test is outside their comfort zone.

A real shame that the type of event has changed since people entered or showed interest; however I reckon you all should just give it ago and perhaps you'll learn some new skills and have a bit of fun at the same time.

Oh and I'd like to point out it's not that easy to run an event and please everyone... 10 points to Brad for actually doing something and making this mega-meet different to all the others! :D Well done mister!

I'll be having fun myself that weekend with an Auto Cross, Motor Khana and a street sprint ... three days of racing allll riiight :D

OK...

Since we are all becoming members of MSNZ sanctioned clubs, doesnt this mean we can take the day from a Clubsport Basic event to the next level?

I thought it was going to be a basic event so that then people who were not MSNZ affaliated could come and play.

Just realising its now costing more to do this event than the normal ones I 'play' in at Mansfeild, and then realising its another week till payday :(

Anyone who isn't a member of a Car Club doesn't have to worry. This is covered for you for the day. There isn't any need to start a panic for people that aren't members of a club and to make them think they'll need to fork out lots of money for memberships.

Well that's my understanding of what is happening. Confirmation will need to come from those directly in charge of the Trackday. I'm just trying to help stop anyone from worrying!

Voting for the above aswell.

If not, it will be interesting anyway. Just next time it might pay to sort out what is happening on the day so people know (not having a go at brad etc, im blaming mmc if i dont have fun :P ) as i entered believing it was a driver training type day.

And i want confirmation about the club membership. ASAP. That is VERY important and honestly shouldnt have been sorted out less than a week out... (again, i am not getting upset at anyone except mmc (cause i can :P ))

This quoted directly from the regulations:

A MNZ member club membership is required.
No MNZ licence required as both are Clubsport Basic events.

(I am presuming MNZ = MSNZ)

If these are the regulations that have been submitted for the permit then I am unsure if they can be changed this close to the event.

Under MSNZ Regulations Appendix 5, Schedule C:

A competition licence is not required. However all competitors, save for those entering their first
or second Autocross or Standing Sprint (Single Car) Event, shall be members of either a Member
club or Associate Member club.

The event is listed in the regulations as a 'Clubsport Basic Traithlon', I am unsure as to whether this qualifies the 'Track Day' part of the event as being run as a Single Car standing sprint?

EDIT: I have looked through all the documentation and found under the Timetable that the second part of the day is listed as a 'Single Car Sprint', So maybe if the regulations can have the requirement of a MSNZ club membership omitted AND you have not competed in a MSNZ event before then you possibly may not require a MSNZ club or affiliated club membership

It would be best if the organisers could confirm ASAP for those who are entered.

Also, are you a paid member of MMC? Because I believe they are a MSNZ affiliated club. Would pay to check.

As per here: viewtopic.php?t=61508 no issues with MSNZ club memberships.
I'm going to talk to MCC tomorrow to see if its possible to change the format of the day, but no promises.
