exactly the same thing happened to me when i was in dunedin, i took state to small claims and two days after i lodged the paperwork state rang and asked if i wanted a cheque or bank deposit :D

theyre just doing what every insurance company does, why pay out if they can get out of it...

ok...an update.

After four weeks of hassle, IAG paid out $2650 and didn't write it off. They were going to de-reg and vin it etc...but we got around that, there was ONE nice person at Customer service, i talked to him about it he said he's got a Mk3 Supra and he understands so he wrote down on the paperwork not to de-rg it....WHAT A MAN!!!

and Thanks to 'the Fallen', for helping me out with panels/parts etc...

So the supra's going to Panel beaters to get the Chassis straightened this week, (Keep in mind it's only minor chassis damage, only the front bars past the engine bay are bent).

They reckon about $1000 to fix the chassis and parts will be more than resonable. Sothat leaves around and extra $1000 to put into it....

First i'm going to fix the air filter by poding it. The air filter case is cracked so i figure, why hunt for a new case when I can just do that....

Then I want to get a new exhaust system....

Thats what I WANT to do, can someone tell me what I SHOULD do...once i've restored it and i've got the excess grand?

oh i forgot to say....

Me and my mate have wired a KITT Knight Rider LED circut....Blue LEDs, in the front under the upper lip.

i'm thinking of putting a speaker in the engine bay and running the Knight Rider theme music...when parked.

lol That is gold! :D I so wanna see this when it's done!

$1k; Wall off the pod to ensure it gets cold air, decent tyres, new fuel filter, flush everything out? (Transmission, steering, brakes)

hee's right just document all everything and show the pics, then he will be liable, and then his insurance will have to pay or he will have to, btw it is a long process though, dont expect it to happen fast.

dont let the insurance company stuff you around, they see you young and easily put off. stick to your guns, and take them to court if need be.
