I do believe that there was a thread about this not long ago, saying it's not a requirement to do so...

oh... maybe so, i always thought it was fine to have fixed back in a 4 door car (as rear occupants can still get out) but not in a 2 door unless its certer and reg'd as a 2 seater.

but in saying that i havnt bithered to read up on the latest regs' so may be wrong

In the KE25 I have a fixed Race-pro bucket seat attached to factory rails (read unchanged factory seat mounting points & unchanged anchorage points for seatbelt) it is not registered as a 2 seater, nor dose the seat require certification (all other mods are on the cert plate).

the only time you do require certification is when you change the factory mounting points of either the seat or the seatbelt.

also the way the seats mounts to the mount points.... ie brackets to adapt seat to rails etc
if you use any non factory parts you need to certify them.
but they dont have to be from that car.... for example you can fit a honda seat to a toyota using mazda mounts if it all bolts in with no cutting/beating/bending.
and an air bag isnt involved

^^^ Yep I can confirm, Jason recently had to certify his Caldina with the the new bucket seats. Only reason why he had to do so is because he couldn't use the factory rails.

If you use non factory rails it has to be certified otherwise who knows whether the workmanship is actually up to scratch? So when you crash and you seat comes flying out of its rails, who's to blame?

I have a series 4 RX7, the drivers seat is a fixed-back bucket and the passenger is a factory rx7 seat. I havnt had any issues getting warrants for it (well, aside from all the issues associated with rotarys and warrants, dohohoho).

The only differance here is that the seat has been mounted to the rails rather than the chassis itself.

not for that price 8O i'll just make some at work

i think we are straying away from what i was trying to get. the car is beign certified anyway. BUT, i'm trying to figure out if i am allowed the front drivers seat to be fixed (no rails) in a 2 door car, IF i have a reclineable in the passenger seat, while retaining the back seat and seatbelts

I had a Jamex fixed back in my series 4, fitted the factory rails with only one hole needing to be drilled, and it never ever had an issue with WOFs.

Hopefully I'm not repeating what everyone else has has, but to my knowledge, you CANNOT get a WOF without certing with FIXED (i.e No rails) seating.

Hopefully I'm correct in saying: A two door can still be a 4/5 seater if ONE of the seats is reclinable (or NOT fixed back) and so long as airbags are not involved, Cert isn't needed if factory mounts are still used, and the seat can still slide, and the seatbelt's not mounted to the seat, and and and :D

So pretty much, so long as the seat still works like factory, and one's reclinable (on a 2 door anyway) if should be fine.

Phew!! Please feel free to pick this to pieces, but i think/hope i'm correct here!
