I like the new design. I still think the R34 GT-R's front looks better, but the back of the new one looks the best.

And I believe there is a 'stick' model planned as well

Agreed with Adamal ... I hate the rear of the R34, and this one looks pretty nice. I actually quite like the overall exterior, but agree with Snowtoy on the interior ... its not very attractive, looks like that dash belongs in an old server room :?

The specs do speak for themselves, that is going to be one helluva powerful car. I'd love to see its 0-100, and some 60 foot / 400m times. Will be curious to see what its under/oversteering tendencies will be compared to the previous GTR models.

Sorry I didn't spot the weight or weight distribution info that site ... anyone note what it is?

I like it, definately not pretty but it looks brutal just like it should. Wonder how many will wind up here? I bet every car dealer in town will be driving one...

Yeah I'm not convinced of the looks, but the performance looks mindblowing. Check out the vid of a lap of the 'ring in it (on the official site) they cut a 7m 38s... the acceleration is phenomenal!

I read figures of a 3.5sec 0-100km/h and a standing quarter of 11.7sec but that could be hearsay.

Style wise it's mainly the treatment of the front arches that bewilders me... they're just not coherent with the rest of the design, I'm sure they serve a function though.

Considering the previous post to yours said the most expensive is $97,000 NZD... NAH! Why listen to that! You're obviously right :)

Another Renault-Nissan abomination (


Alloy blocked, over square V6 mated to a slushbox.
Its certainly no Group A monster like the original.. From Godzilla to Pikachu.
The rear mounted transmission is semi-interesting ill admit, certainly nothing new tho. Funny how Attesa was a direct copy of the Porsche 959 system. And now they are adopting the rear gearbox arrangement found on the 944 aswell. The fact that it's 4wd does bring something new to the table i guess.

I was really hoping for a electric 4wd system. Mechanically driven rear wheels, with individual electric motors in the two front hubs.

Can you explain where the slushy bit is in the gearbox? As far as I'm aware using clutches to connect the engine to the gearbox isn't very slushy :wink:

Yea I'm being picky, but it's a manual gearbox you control with paddles, not an automatic :)

i dont think it looks all that bad , car design is shifting to a more noticeably squared muscular look the last few years anyway.

the specs on these are just mindboggling, i can't think of another japanese car ever released that would come anywhere close to it.
it seems they are really taking a shot at the european supercars at a much lower price.

im still a bit dubious on the v6 twin turbo thing, as theres nowhere near as much room side to side as a straight six and most other japanese v6 turbos have been packaged too tightly and result in heat related issues of some kind. (GTO, 300ZX) or in extremely costly maintenance. they do apeear to have it all packaged quite neatly tho.

can't wait to see some on the road.

The slushy bit is the wet type dual clutch system. As seen in many european 4 door sedans.

It’s a Japanese front engine 911 Turbo developed and produced with French money.. There's nothing super about that.
Zonda, Enzo, Veyron, R8 Road car. Those are 'true' super cars in my opinion.

Actually there's a feature in the new GTR which even the Bugatti lacks

- Hill Start Assist prevents rollback when starting on an incline.

its a (relatively) poor mans super car. that nur time is extremely competitive especially when you compare its price to those other cars you mentioned.

who cares who funded its design or manufacture, i dont see myself thinking about that when 400kw kicks you in the arse.

calling the gear box a slush box is a bit of a mis-nomer

speaking of arses, the back of this is dead sexy - agree with previous posters comments re R34's.

Why? What quintessential thing differentiates those from the Nissan GTR aside from being European and more expensive? The GTR is fast as buggery in a straight line, corners well, stops well, has an awesome transmission, has looks which people will argue about, it hasn't even hit the roads and people are paying attention to it.

Its beaten some of the hardest hitters (with video instead of pub talk to back it up) and its going straight into SuperGT so will follow on the "GT-R" racing heritage.
