Panel and Paint

Postby IH8TEC » Thu Oct 04, 2007 5:18 pm

Right, time has come to start getting quotes for panel and paint for the new car.

Went to slammed customs and he reckons 1-2k for panel work, seems not too bad but can't do before xmas.

Went to the painter just behind the BP there, and he quoted me 6.5k for jsut paint 8O like fark i'm paying that for paint. he wont let me supply paint either to make it cheaper

went to graham hughes over in barry's point road. they seem pretty good, looking at around 4k panel and painted, bu wants to see the car in a stripped, and cleaner state for a more accurate quote (fair enough)

So, does anyone else know anywhere that does good work, and pretty reasonable price. ideally i'd prefer from west auckland - north shore area. but south could also be considered.

cheers

Try Westgate Panel and Paint, The owner took me around the workshop when I was inquiring about paint for my car and it is the cleanest and most professional panel & paint shops I have even seen, you could literally eat off the workshop floor, it was that clean. Had good equipment, spary booth/bake oven etc.. I am almost definitely going to get my race car done there..

Would need to see your car for a quote tho.

ok i went there at lunch, showed him all the areas that would need panel beating or rust repair, he was VERY VAGUE, when asking for a price he just started rambling on about other stuff,

i had to interupt him multiple times to ask for a rough value on panel work, then same again for the paint. instead he wanted to ramble on about how expensive it gets to do projects etc  like i dont know that already, i just wanted a damn price.

so decided not to go there anyway. i've been quoted less at another place and they seem alot more friendlier and to the point ie dont get sidetracked from the questions every 5seconds :?

maybe he wasn't the owner, i'm not sure. but yeah thats my opinion, others will have differing ones.

will check out a couple of the others listed on the weekend maybe

Just a little bit of a hijack, im looking at a panelbeater (preferbly up silverdale ways) to fit my fibreglass kit to my SW20, and if need be straighten the radiator panel (little bent). Seeing as its a replica kit (what isnt these days) i want someone who can do a good job of it, and hopefully not charge the earth.

Cheers

I haven't actually seen anything finished by him, but i've seen alot of the work in his shop and it seems quite good.

Ruben i think his name was.. has a workshop up the right of way that the Westpac bank is on, off Wairau Rd.

Very fair prices.

Try steve nuich panel, heading towards kumeu. We deal with them a lot, and they seem to do good work as well.

Yeah, there is a farm right out the back, and his house is down the same drive as well. They are pretty big, do a lot of high cost stuff through us.
