Where are these smooth roads here? I'm yet to find them. I can't think of a single road in Christchurch (or anywhere else in the south island) that fits that bill for more than about 10 seconds after its built.

Yeah South Island roads are @%*#ing diabolical, go to Auckland for a week and you'll be in awe over their pristine roads.

having leived in aussie most of my life bar for this year in aucjkland i still think aussies drive better in the citys

Aucklans the only place ive ever nearly got killed twice by stupid acts of d-head , nd the only place ive ever had a reasonbly nasty road accident by ba fking tradesman usuing a mobile phone while driving .

In OZ you get REALLY owned for moby use in cars .. Big fines ..

The roads are a little on the unloved side here , compared to oz , though they have alot more road funbd to play wiht and the motorways totally own anuything in NZ ive driven on ..

Cars are more expensive to own , run and insure , which means cockheads cant just get out there and drive them easily ..

Licences are given out later , with stricter rules given to what cars one can own in age and licence groups ..

You dont see 15 Yo's driving Evo4's - thank Christ for that - its juts too expensive to own and insure for anyone how cant afford to play in that car performance bracket ..

overall its better in OZ , though the scenery of roads down south of NZ totally put that perspective in reverse - better sceneic drives - Sucks arses for the rest ..

I had a little stint in Oz last year living in the gold coast and it was brilliant. The M1 heading up to brisbane is pretty good especially when you can hit the 110km. Road were generally better, drivers were cruisy and no one ever got road rage... if you got in a traffic jam you were only in it for no more than 10 minutes plus it getting anywhere in the gold coast took no more than 20 minutes!!!!

I also did the trip from GOld Coast to sydney in one day - i found the road pretty good albeit boring but when you are driving that sort of distance it was pretty good.
Drinking 42 BELOW Passionfruit Vodka is like walking along the street and seeing this really hot girl and all you can think is "Man, I don't understand how anyone can be gay".

The roads in Brissie are pretty good compared to here, but the southern motorway in dunners is pretty smooth, i assum thats what Dj was refferring too.
The worst roads i've seen in NZ are the ones round Tauranga, go up there every few months or so with my gf to visit her parents & geez they love the road works up there. I swear they dig up the same stretch of road every couple of months

I'm in Aus at the moment (Gold Coast and I'd have to agree with everything DJ said in the first post. Jap cars over here are over priced, and usually in pretty poor condition. The roads are alright, but the drivers are rooted. ou would be surprised how long it takes drivers to pull over for emergency vehicles :?
Random tangent here, anyone know how much it would cost to get an Mr2 from NZ to Aus?
