ratios are also longer on gtz box, especially 3rd gear. its harder to find one that shifts nicely. use a 20v gearbox, they are plentiful and cheap.

yep the only reason i want to swap gearboxes is to give the car longer legs, i assume the 20v boxes are geared pretty much the same? 3500rpm@100kms = suck

One more question (for the 7age gurus)... what cambelt? Does it time the cams nicely with stock camgears? Im assuming the stock 4age tensioner/idler stuff all fits too... ?

Cheers Warwick, i searched and it actually worked! didnt bother previously because it hasnt worked for me in the last year or so.

aaaaaaand.... $&#$% it, that swap is way more involved than i want to get into, didnt realise the block deck height (vs piston@tdc) was so different between the 2 blocks, so the compression with redtop pistons will be way off, and the gudgeon pins different too, bloody toyota! This car aint worth wasting that much time on so looks like im looking for a complete blacktop setup, ill have a go at the wiring stuff myself, then probably give up and pass it to an autosparky mate of mine

Well that was a pretty good waste of a thread, cheers lads! :D
