4AGE clutch and flywheels

Postby Crampy » Thu Nov 08, 2007 7:20 pm

Hi all.
Just been doing a bit of reading and see that the blacktop flywheel is the lightest stock flywheel for a 4AGE, so thought it'd be a good buy for my car. Aftermarket flywheels aren't cheap and I'm not a fan of lightening stock ones!
I've read that the Bluetop Flywheel/clutch is 200mm and that the Smallport Redtop and the 20V ones are all 212mm. Am I right in assuming the Bigport Redtop is also 212mm?

I found this on a search:

I think its like this:
Bluetop tvis 200mm
Redtop tvis 212mm
Smallport 212mm
Not sure on the 20v sorry

Someone else went to say the 20V are all 212mm also, but they weren't sure if the pressure plate was the same.

So, would I need to buy a Blacktop 20V flywheel, clutch and pressure plate for it all to fit on my FXGT, or can I just use the Blacktop Flywheel with the Bigport Redtop clutch/pressure plate.

I'm guessing the spline on the gearbox is all the same, so it'll still work out sweet.

Any help or clarification appreciated.

Hey.
Ive just done this on my AE85 with redtop smallport 4age.
Blacktop flywheel and clutch kit for 212mm 4age flywheel. Fits all 20v and 16v 4ages with 212mm flywheels.
When i got my blacktop flywheel machined I weighed it. 6.0 kg in case you care. Standard smallport flywheel (212mm) weighed 8.8kg (although not sure how many times its been machined). 4age clutch kits for 212mm 4age flywheels are all the same fitment to answer your question.

Nice, to go from 8.8kg down to 6kg is pretty good. There was no way I was going to machine 2kg or so off my stock flywheel.
Those blacktop flywheels seem to be a good band for your buck mod.

Might have to buy one now.

Cheers for the info.

I'm going to be upgrading my clutch on my FXGT, cause it's getting a turbo conversion and figured when it's off, why not go for a lighter flywheel as well.
