Id think it would go in the map sensor line to prevent it seeing the full boost pressure

dont give out bad " I think advice ", and use google dammit..

has nothing to do with the map sensor unless that infos wrong, its to do soley with the ECU.. and rather than just give the link to the info just google

"fcd st185 install guide"

From the site you posted
The FCD becomes easy to install when you understand what it does. The boost sensor in your car reports a voltage to the ECU. When the ECU senses 4.4 volts, it will cut the fuel (fuel cut), and cause you to lose power. The FCD will intercept this voltage and put out a lower figure to the ECU, so that fuel cut cannot happen. The PIM wire tells the ECU the voltage, which must be cut. Each end of the PIM wire goes into the FCD so that the voltage can be altered. Only the PIM wire would be cut, the others would be "tapped", by connecting the wires to the harness, but not cutting them.

It works by preventing the boost sensor reaching 4.4v
THIS IS NOT AN ELECTRONIC FCD!

With a pneumatic one I would think it would stop the sensor reaching 4.4v by reducing the pressure at the sensor.

Makes sense to me, how the hell else would it work?

Oh look at that, it goes on the map sensor line.

Get your facts straight before criticizing others adydas.

Not sure where the sensor is on your car but someone here should be able to point you in the right direction

forgive my ignorance, but isnt the 3sgte in an ST185 an airflow metered engine, thus doesnt have a map sensor?

So you'd need an electronic one for this car, as apposed to a pneumatic one?

They are but have a MAP sensor for the stock in-dash boost gauge and i am sure for the fuel cut for the ECU.
but this is "I think" info

yes but is correct "I think" info.

you could have just blocked vacuum line to the MAP sensor. As you can do that for free!

hmmmmmmm what is controlling your boost? assuming your car is mostly stock i wouldn't want it boosting that high.

considering it's not electronic i don't think 1.8psi variation is too bad (not good but not too bad)

Just block the pipe to the MAP sensor if you're feelin' rangi.

The MAP sensor only serves the piece of crap thing Toyota calls a boost guage, unless you go PowerFC then you'll need that sensor.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

on the mazda's you just cut the wire I think.
Is the sensor not used for the fuel map?

yes.

and you will see variations in boost pressure dependant on load on the engine/gear you are in.
