As I thought, I've weighed Ae101's at about 1100kg's

about the only japanese cars that looks good standard are GTR skylines and tommi mak evo 6's!

soarers defintely look like crap standard, but a bit of lowering and nice set of deepdish wheels improves their looks out of sight imo.

i'd defintely own one.

I guess I have to vote yes, owning one and all, although I'd like to point out that mine isn't the whale variety, and I don't particularly like that model, bar a few exceptions I've seen online.

As this thread points out, everyone has different opinions, I personally think the standard evo6 looks much better than the 6.5 version.
Even better the Version 6 STI

I also like GTR's with the exception of the R33 - but that is my opinion and I'm entitled to it, as is everyone else 8)

Soarers are fugly, end of story... BUT I have a quick mathematical calculation anyone can use to turn their Soarer into something spectacular.

Soarer + Vertex Kit + Bomex Whale Tail + Widebody Guards = SeX on wheels. 8)

I agree - far prefer the standard 6 to the 6.5.. And the latest STI (not 2007 tho - has that been released yet?) is a bit of fun :)

Z30 soarers look great side on! the back end is an acquired taste. the front end is bit ugly due to the separate high beams. The "bulbuous' look contributes to the "PHAT" appeal.so it is a mixture of style and ugly. And yes i do have stock rims- saves me from alot of unwanted attention. thieves and cops. P.S. Most people only get to see my car from the rear :)

Seems like a bizarre thread, it'd be a pretty mundane existence if we all liked the same cars, I'll never get the attraction to the AE86, it's just looks like a boxy wedge :| but hey, if people want to spend a house deposit on building one then it's all gravy.

Would have to agree with you there on both these points Darryn.

I too found them an acquired taste a few years ago, mainly due to the fact they had such a good motor standard. I just found them the most unique car around for the money and most people were not at all interested in them which is what got me so interested in them.

I personally now think they can be if in tidy condition one of the best looking cars out of japan and still rival things that come out of Europe in some ways.

I really liked my FSG one I had, sold it for my new acquired taste on a Celsior which is good but much more bland and less unique but still a car that I find special in its own way. I definitely look to buy another some day to go with my Celsior two rather different quality cars.

Personally stock I think they look stunning when looked after, the stock wheels are average but with a set of decent 17-19s they can look so amazing. Heres mine when I had it looking as tidy as it was while I had it. :)

soarer

Postby docTRD » Tue Dec 11, 2007 9:49 am

i like the styling of the soarer but in factory form they are not a lot to look at, the facelift tail lights are definately an improvement plus a BN sports kit, then urve got sumtin different on the road :) . sucks a bit how a jzz30 soarer is heavier than a jzx100 chaser and its a coupe, hard to choose the soarer over a fast practical 4 door car aint it
