Agreed. They have tried to fail me on stuff thats not illegal, and passed dodgy as shit things 8O

I go to the garage down the road. They may be a little leniant, but i wouldnt say dodgy. They are all car nuts, and know their stuff (the guy who does wof's is actually the owner, and not young by any means)

My Mrs got a warrant on her car at VTNZ this morning. When they guy told her it passed she just STARED at him, he asked her what was wrong, she said 'it's never passed first time before'

But seriously, last time she went they failed the car on a 'damaged brake line', which I had replaced for the PREVIOUS warrant, and when I swapped it I checked it thoroughly for damage. The inspector MUST have had x-ray vision, cause it looked fine to me :?

VTNZ are the most inconsistent pack of idiots to ever have anything to do with cars.

my golf failed today at onroad for tints that came with the car from japan in 2005 and have passed compliance and wof's since .So now because my tints came throught at 20% not 35 they are deemed UNSAFE i have a shitty job of peeling the $&#$% off . Oh and the rear brakes werent balanced half the wof places out there dont even have the rolling roads .

However i did notice the slutty looking chick in front of me with low cut top and very short skirt passed in her shitty looking honda.

Maybe i need that boob job after all.

Am I missing something here, or did they just fail your car on something that was in fact illegal? That appears to be what you're saying.

I wouldnt go to a testing station at all.

Both VTNZ and ONRoad employ nazi monkeys that seem to be know-it-alls, following the LTSA rules requires some discretion and some of them seem to take it to the extreme, beyond all reason.

Last time i took one of my cars to a testing station (7 years ago) they used a small pick axe thing to "tap" around under the car looking for rust. This caused no less than 14 areas under the car to have bare metal exposed/tiny dents and 1 area(non structural) of rust to be found.
Formal complaints to both the testing station manager and LTSA got no results so i no longer go to any testing station.

Find a local mechanic that you can trust and use them.

yeah i'm not really seeing what VTNZ have done wrong in most of these cases.

They seem to be pinging people on either things that are illegal, or are detrimental to the safety of other road users. They do state they are a testing station only and don't adjust thing.

A+ for them

although my workmate took his corolla in last moth to them and apparently the headlight adjusters were seized, so rather than spraying them with crc first they just cranked them until they broke then told him he needed 2 new headlights, which proves I would rather play with my own car even though that it dangerous

To work at VTNZ you have to be stupid - they are all failed vehicle repairers of some kind.
They are the most inconsistent and incompetent bunch around - we have no end of trouble with them.

i always take my cars to ONROAD and have never had more than minor grizzles about them, like dropping my old integra onto the rollers and letting the front kit smash onto the ground, where a slower approach wouldnt have caused the damage,
but iv found them to be pretty consistant, apart from the new guy they have, who is a bit pedantic, but you get that i guess.

oh, and my trueno flew straight through yesterday :D
now lets see if they notice the 2inch body lift, or the 33 inch tyres that stick out past the guards by about 80mm, or the power steering fluid pouring out of the box on my surf lol.

I take my and my better half's car to our local testing station, but its a private owned place, not a VTNZ or Onroad. My old shitter needed a new number plate lamp and the FR headlight adjusted, they did that during the test for free.

One of the other half's car ABS sensor was hanging off, so they went and found a new bolt and fixed it for us, free.
