they are good, unless you have problems with yours why worry? it will do its job just fine.

Just because everyone on here bags hondas doesn't mean they suck now does it?

yeah it does but thats not the point! :P

but seriously, they are good reliable alarms

The biggest problem with alarms these days is that quite often they're installed by absolute muppets, or in a short time frame because the customer doesn't want to pay anything for a proper install.

You hit the nail on the head, an alarm is only as good as the install!

Although some brands are alot better than others. I had a dynatron alarm in my old car for about 5 years. Never had problems with it, car never got stolen so can't complain.

My dad's one died after about 4 years though :?

Ive got Dynatrons in both my Toyota's, only problems ive seemed to have is related to my door sensors (but im pretty sure its cos of our dirt road getting dust into the sensors).

Also had a Dynatron in my ST162. No problems there either. Plus good service from them when ive had to source another remote.

toyotas are notorious for having dodgy door sensors, you can actually buy aftermarket replacements specially for them.
When in doubt, down and out.

any alarm installer should be able to source them for you.

I have a steal shield - it only goes off when I try and get into it but never when anyone else does... go figure...

Dynatron is evil. I've never met anyone who HASN'T had an issue with one.

I have a dynatron in one of my cars and all its good for is keyless entry. The siren doesnt work, the immobilser doesnt work - if someone tries to break in it just blinks the hazards at them.
It randomly 'activates' whenever it feels like it so sometimes and I'll be driving along and the hazards will start blinking.
*sigh*

Yes... i shld really get it fixed/replaced.... but meh

I agree with what Sergei said Emz.

My personal experience with them has been nothing but positive, have had 2 different models installed in to 2 different cars by different installers & neither have given me issues.

Both have done exactly what they were designed to do.

I am sure in your case Emz, if you picked up the phone and spoke to Dynatron themselves (or the suppliers) you'd find a pretty good case being made of the install. what you are experiencing is rather random to say the least

I have called them about it and they are extremely unhelpful and blame the addition of other electronics. And of course they are only open during business hours so I'll have to take time off work to go out there. And they mentioned how much it wld cost to look/at fix said alarm which made me think I'll just get a new mongoose installed.

Lol, I rang them the other day cause I had problems with my 7800 - related to an installer who chopped and changed everything and all the componenets. Dynatron themselves had a look - told me what the fault was (very helpful in fact) and resintalled it for me and haven't had a problem since. In fact, the alarm does stuff I didnt know it was meant to do cause it's actually installed properly!

Mine is a 7800 (I think? Its been so long since I dealt with it in any technical manner - lol) and works flawlessly.

I had an earlier model in my GT4 and aside from being ripped off by an installer in Auckland who sold me a third party clone of a Dynatron,, twas all good.

we have fitted lots of brands of car alarms at work,
and now only ever sell Dynatron and only fit dynatron,
we try to avoid fitting alarms supplied by the customer because
no doubt they got it cheaper, but they give to many problems.

but your right, most of the time the install is the problem.
But the problem we have is that people wont pay for the huge amount of time it takes to do it properly,
but now if they wont pay the high price, we won't do the job.

wotsa typical 7800 install worth including alarm purchase?

I spent several hundred dollars and figured it was a good investment.

Not 100% sure on the price of the 7800 as it's not one we commonly do,
but would be at least $700 +gst.
