best way to get rid of car, '89 Celica

Postby Monza » Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:45 pm

Righto, my beloved wee Celica is no longer use to me and I need to get rid of it. It has 135km on the clock and the engine runs fine but will need some work to pass a WOF. The 4WS light has come on, and last time this happened it cost me $800 to fix, just don't think it is worth fixing this time.

Should I just stick in on trademe with $1 reserve? It's at my parents atm, will try and get some pics soon, as it has a dent in the back (was like that when I bought it 3 years ago).

Maybe someone here wants it for parts?

Not worth it, "as is where is" means jack sh*t when its a private sale. Taking the bulb out is intentionally misleading someone...trust me you can get done for it...

Just take it to a Turners DVA branch, they'll sell it for free and give you all proceeds...Better than the car coming back to you if anything goes wrong.

Either that or declare all knows faults and stick on Trademe for $1 reserve...

Set fire to it, then push it off a cliff :D Maybe not the most financially rewarding option, but it'll give you a bit of fun

lol make sure there's nothing at the bottom of the cliff though

Not a bad idea either, some fuel, matches and a mineshaft should do it :D

haha, I've become an expert over the years on what can cause the 4WS light to come on, checked the power steering fluid ages ago...

Looks like I'll do the $1 reserve 'as is, where is' thing on trademe. Pretty sure the battery has died and one tyre has gone flat... oh and someone backed into it when it was parked and broke an indicator... I might be lucky to reach reserve....

or..... you can list it as a car being wrecked, whole car available "this auction is for a wheel nut" type auction .... then its charged on commission, so unless it goes for over 500 it should save you money.

Pull a phat drift in front of a cop and let them dispose of it :D

Nah, may be of use to someone as parts. Surely someone would be looking for an engine for one.

Doesn't work... did something similar when I was 18 (young, dumb etc) and got a careless use of a motor vehicle charge and a $200 fine...
