4AGE B/T Flat spot

Postby ke25sr » Sun Dec 09, 2007 10:04 pm

I have a strange flat spot in the MR2. The engine was recently rebuilt due to past owner was a idiot.

I put it down to the ignition timing.
So i want some info on were its meant to be set?
I remember being told something about earthing wires on the diagnostic plug but i not sure how good my memory is... Yea..

also with this VVT thingy Does it have to be set or does it always stay sweet.

Prob dumb Q's but this is new tech for me its not a 4K or 2TG.

Any help please.

yea might be the best choice iv noticed toyota ones die very quick, yours might have recived shock thats stuffed it?

but do check all the cam timing marks and dizzy incase, vvt dosnt get touched, bridge TE1 and e1

same basic thing for the 20v to set timing

if you used silicone gasket sealer, or silicone of any type on the reasembly of the engine. and has got into the exhaust, could have been the death of the o2 sensor.

Ive had very bad flat spot issues in my street BT. Though luckily was also throwing codes for 02 and knock sensors. Repalced both with new parts from Revhead and its all good, a completley different car to drive.

Also got rid of the cat which makes it a bit smoother but replacing it with a reasonator has made it sound like cr*p.
