RX7 batman prices

What would you guys expect to get for two batmans?

They are both standard. One has an auto and one has a manual, they are both less than 100,000kms. One is a '94 and the other is a bit later but not sure at the moment.

What would be a ballpark figure for them do you think?

I've looked at Trademe but there aren't very many standard ones or they are for sale by dealers.

Also, both are fresh imports.

Cheers guys, I hope its easy to give a roundabout figure on that info, if not, no worries.

Fresh imports? Wont be compilable then will they?

Yep, went through compliance last week. Man they are really brutal to cars, they chopped all the seams to look at stuff, I almost shed a tear.

thats funny, because the '94 definitely falls outside the 20 year limit, and bats aren't on the list of cars that have sufficient frontal crash testing...

WHich is a good point... when I was living back in Napier a year or so ago, I was at a car yard where they showed me an RX7 that was pretty much fresh off the boat... it was being repaired for compliancing as it had been in an accident overseas and the repair was botched... but thinking about it, how the hell did they manage to get it in? :?

I'm not sure about others but these both have airbags and they are private imports which might make a difference.

^^ Not necessarily. I just had a look at the importing regulations. The law is subject to narrow interpretation and there are ways to get a car certified if it meets certain conditions. I'm not going to get into it here because a) I'm going to bed and b) I was just asking how much they could be sold for.

Quick look on autotrader didn't see anything under 15k

The guys are right, that 94 wont get compliance until 2014 :lol: You wouldnt want to pay anything over 6k for a non compliable manual FD, less if its an auto.

If the second one is a series 7(96 -99) then you should be right. Expect to pay upwards of 12k for a clean standard one, more if its modified/exceptional condition. Again automatic ones are worth less(lets face it, who really wants to drive an auto rotary...

I paid $17.5k for my Series 7 1996 RB Bathurst Model, Manual in white, only modifications were a HKS catback exhaust, mazdaspeed strut bars and 17" mags. This was about 4 months ago.

you should be able to get at least 16k for the later model one. The 94 model one sounds really dodge though, even if its legit. because of that you will get a similar response to here and have a harder time selling it, especially as its auto.

I'm not sure why the '94 got compliance but questions weren't asked, it only had to proven that it was up to the frontal impact standard and because it had airbag sensors still intact (reason one without a bodykit was purchased in Japan because to put a bodykit on they usually just slice off airbag sensors :? ) and it had airbags it went through compliance fine.

If that was against the norm, I am not particularly fussed because it was passed through legitimate means.

Thanks for that on the pricing Skin, gives a good base to work off, but the automatic one is more fun to drive than the manual, it never goes off boost and makes the driver smile. :D

Have considered just listing them on trademe but the ones I've been watching over the last few weeks on there don't seem to be selling so may look at other ways.

Am hoping a good price for them though because they are both relatively low k's and pretty unmolested, they've never been thrashed either :P :wink: :lol: :twisted:

Agree with you here. We had a number on the yard at the same time when these first became 'importable'.
The manual was a bit cumbersome to drive but the auto you just jumped in and drove it like a go kart. Heaps more fun.
I also seem to remember a Japanese article that claimed the Auto to be quicker.

ya got to remember this time of year is the worst for trying to sell cars tho.

oh and i think basing cars on daelers prices is stupid, they are way overpriced fot 95% of cars on the yards

If the 94 has been complied, LTNZ can revoke it if in the future they find its fallen through the cracks. They're good like that :roll:
Get the chassis numbers off both, you can find out what year they are from that.
Also, sell them both to me excessively cheap. Or I'll ban you. That is all.

I really cant agree with that. Aside from the fact the autos have a lower power to start with, its just not the same. The rx7 is a purists car, so an auto in my view dilutes the whole experience.

Its a shame you did have these come up earlier, i would of gladly bought the series 7 off ya. But ive turned to getting a gen 1 rx7 now :lol:
