Law's surrounding wheels.....

Postby KiwiMR2 » Wed Dec 26, 2007 9:53 pm

Hey guys

We've just imported a car which has some 19" wheels on it....they stick out past the body of the car & I have a suspicion it probably won't get an entry cert like that.....will they just have to be removed OR can something like that be certified as a mod?

Cheers

nope, that wont pass, if its pass the guard then its a open wheeler,
just take them off and replace them with another set of wheels, then when you get the car put some flares on it to cover the wider wheels,

Sweet, that's along the same lines as I was thinking :P

I wonder where I can get flares for a 2005 Odyssey.......?

I wouldn't think so......not needed for my Mini, if so that would mean any add on bodywork like skirts & bumpers etc. would need to be certed & they definitly dont.

I thought the law read that as long as the tread of they tyre did not exced the guard then that was fine, on one of my old cars it had stretched tyres and the lip of the rim and the edge of the tyre was outside the guard but the tread was inside the guard and the WOF guy said that was fine.

if you increase the track more than 25mm you need cert.

Actually is appears that the tyre's on these wheels are a problem as well....they have "no standard marks" so yeah....maybe if we change the tyre's & get the tread under it will be ok? They have Falken Ziex ZE-512 Tires on it , fronts 235/35/19 & rear 265/30/19.

Would you be better off putting some stockers on, and selling the wheels to some kid wanting a dorifter spec skyline or silvia? Im assuming the target market for an odyssey aint wanting 19's
