Depending if you stop for food etc or go straight down non stop your looking at approx 8 hours.

1 hour to hamilton, 3 hours to taupo 5 hours to dessert road 6-7 to get to levin / bulls and an hour to get into wellington its self. ( Approx ).

Somone might be able to help fine tune the above but thats as good as i remember and would go by.

depending on the time of day and traffic, it can take a coupla hours to get from bulls-welly
and if your stupid and try doing it when the whole of welly is trying to do the same.... take a tent.

My average is about 7.5 hrs. No speeding and one or two brief stops. Bypassing Hamilton helps also (via 27). Distance is approx 640kms.

Wan't the distance that made it a quicker trip for me, I've split off from a small group (they went through Hamilton, we went via 27) and had to wait around at Tirau for a bit until they showed up.
