Problems with hot water

Postby tsoob » Fri Jan 04, 2008 1:34 am

I have been running around the rolla for about 10 days now, it is going well, the ecu needs to be mapped properly, (is on the base map) we have taken some fuel out of the map to compensate for the bigger fuel system, all the wiring has been finished and put away and car is driving nice. when i was away ( went up north) had nice drives up there spend $235 in gas for the 6 days and did bugger all driving while i was there (one dairy trip) and back to home. motor has got nearly 1000ks on it now was fresh rings and mian bearings. I have noticed the cooling system needs some attention, it is ok when you are driving 60ks+ (86-88degrees) really good at 100ks+ (80- 84) and lower at night. When we go in the day it sits about the same until we go slow 20-40ks will get to 98+ i took it through one drive thru and it got really hot (99+) but cooled back down as soon as i drive away. What soultions would work for my setup? (wrap, beanie ??)

Get your radiator cleaned out properly by a shop. Sounds like there's enough airflow at speed to keep it cool but not enough airflow at slow speeds. It'll probably get worse the harder you drive it as well. Just tooling around the place it'll be fine.

Yep, same thing happened to me. Just take it out and give it to a radiator specialist, only cost like $30 and they will take the tanks off, flush it, and clean the core out.
