labour weekend is best I think, not many people have things on that weekend, xmas and new years would just get messy imo

Christmas generally gets pretty hard because people have already spent large amounts on presents / family / events and quite a few will be going away for extended periods of time. These are generally the 2 main reasons people quote for not coming to MegaMeets!

What about Taupo? its central to everyone in the north island, we can organise a track day? drag day? depending on intrest, i know the owners of the local camp groud so it could be possible to organise something there, *starts thinking of cruise roads*

Anywhere in the NI is good for me. Once I have to cross the straight it starts getting too pricey for me. I sympathise with SI members :P

Agree with Taupo being easy. MR2OC is holding it's meet there for the same reasons.

Hmmm, maybe when it is organised and "dated", someone should approach the ferry companies(bluebridge, interislander, anyone else?) for a group buy?

Taupo would be good.. But im good for anywhere in the NI

Ferry/Petrol costs/Accomodation would be pretty expensive for me for down south

Ok i can see why christmas is a bad idea.

My other thought that im sure some other car clubs do, is have a meet in the south island & a meet in the north island & every 2nd year have a 'megameet'.
I guess the idea behind this is that newer members can get to meet other members from round their island & get more involved feel more attached to the club & hence stay around longer & are more prepared to go to a 'megameet' since they have an idea of what its likely to be like & know others who will be there instead of rocking up not knowing anyone in person.

After all as some have said, especially appropriate for CHCH, the club sometimes struggles with maintaining an active membership away from the forums, & perhaps this is an idea to get & keep ppl interested.

unfortunately it works the other way around......
need the members to have a MM.....
look at chch.... had an awesome MM there..... then the club died there

now no one wants to go to anything that gets arranged.

hmmm dunno why i care where the next one is though! i more than likely wont be making it! :o

Well that just throws the whole socialisation theory i've just been learning about in a politics paper out the window  Apparently people like to start small & take baby steps into social groups & clubs for activities.

& agree with Dave, no revhead at a megameet should be legislated against, i gather its all half of the fun

past MMs have shown that its the locals that make up most of the numbers as bugger all bother to travel.
also need a good local base to help organise and run things.
