Not Happy!!!

Postby Warren » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:57 pm

Not very happy this evening.
I just curbed my right rear wheel pulling into the drive way. :x  :x
Does anyone know of a good place to get it repaired in Auckland?
Thanks.

Yeah, arrow wheels did a good job on mine. They charged $40 per wheel just to grind the lip though.

I curb'd mine within days after installing my 18's, just not used to the offset and heard a nice long sharp grinding noise in Mcdonalds drivethru.

"Damn can't reach the speakers, it's okay i'll just get closer by doing...... *grind*..... AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ive seen a van driving round with "wheelfixit" on the side, could be worth calling for a quote seeing as they're mobile.

Even have charged here... http://www.wheelfixit.co.nz/faqs.htm

+1 for Wheelfixit, they done an excellent job on some 18" Shadow Chromes. And they do everything from taking the wheel off and putting it back on.

Yeah, it's the most hideous sound I've heard in a long while. Worse than the old scratch your nails over a chalk board

Thanks Nic. Forgot you had your wheels repaired. They did do a good job.

Thanks for all the suggestion everyone.

Hears a couple of pics of the damage. The first pic is the whole wheel with a red box outlining the extent of the damage. followed by a close up.

I wouldn't say their stretched. They are a 215 wide tyre on a 7.5 or 8 inch wide rim (can't quite remember). Theres just a lip that sticks out a bit. Also above the lip is a "rim protector" (part of the tyre) which overhangs the lip a little bit. But it didn't really work that well in this case :(

Theres an engerneering place on Gt South Road in Penrose, its just down the road from Hyper tyres, across the road from that small BP service station...i cant remember for the life of me what the name is, (yes i know that doesnt help much) but its the only one there and its down the back by the folklift service shop. I sent a wheel there from work to get fixed, it had a dent in the mag, and the whole this was curbed inside and outside!! Its cost us $180 incl to get fixed and it looked brand new once done!

P.S. It was a repo'd car, not one i was driving....honest
