Hold on tight -the next meeting at MMP is the Trust House 40th NZ Drag Racing Nationals, and the countdown has begun!

Masterton Motorplex is proud to announce it will host the 40th New Zealand Drag Racing Nationals on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd of February. Not only is this a landmark forty years of the running of this event, it is also the 10th Anniversary of drag racing at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton.

The Masterton Motorplex team has been going all out in the months leading up to this drag meeting to make sure it is a stand out event. We hope you all get behind it and make it the huge success it deserves to be. We are also excited to announce a new Major sponsor for this event - Trust House. The event will be known as 'The Trust House 40th NZ Nationals'. A big thanks to the Trust House Community Enterprise for their support of this event!

This meeting promises to be the most exciting yet at Hood Aerodrome! In preparation for the NZ Drag Racing Nationals, the 'other' side of the track will also be open to spectators. Several additional grandstands are under construction as you read this, and tar-sealing works on the pre-stage area are due to begin in the next few days. More as it comes to hand.

Entry Forms:

www.mastertonmotorplex.co.nz/entryforms.htm

If you want to enter, click onto the "Trust House 40th NZ Drag Nationals Entry Form"

From 10am each day.

$20 to watch a full days of exciting fast paced action! Children under 14 free.

Cheers

That, and I only saw them crack a 5 once - and it was a very high 5. The jet cars were doing consistant low 6s when I saw them, in the relative scheme of things thats well off the pace.

He has a nitro Funny Car, not a jet dragster ;)

Actually come to think of it - does Tim Watkins have a new car yet? After the Pontiac got destroyed I wasnt sure if he had or not.

DYO is always fun to watch...and slow
I assume automatic cars have the upper hand racing this format.
(well a better chance of staying consistent)

Yeh theres a few 15 sec V8's in that class that pretty much just put their foot down off the line and run the same times over and over. I run fairly consistent low to flat 13's but im not consistent enough to be competitive with the likes of those guys.

I have heard no rumour, but they have come down for similar before so I wouldn't be surprised. Heat Treatments will be there though, worth a trip over just for that - if not the fact that there could be possibility of both being there.
