6 speed question

Hi all
Just hauled the 6 speed box out of my AE 101 black top corolla as its run a synchro in third (pretty common problem i hear) Just wondering if anyone knows of a mechanic or shop who has had experience with these boxes so i can get a straight answer/price. Everyone ive talked too has been pretty shady on the 6 speed subject
Dont want to take it to the local and get the old "oh well we opened it up and actually it was poked heres the bill for 3 grand trick.
Would give it a go myself but... well just straight cant be arsed

all depends which "big smoke" you live in...... as people can only give recommendations of places to take it if they know where ya are

I can't recommend you anyone, you could do it yourself (with trip to gearbox shop to press out 5th gear), but generally they are very similar to 5 speed C series gearbox (which is the most common gearbox in Toyotas), so whoever done C series gearbox before should have no problems to do 6 speed.

Oh and yeah, if it is not BZR box and has not got advantage of LSD, having 6speed is pretty much pointless especially being a very weak gearbox. Get a C56 and save yourself a hassle.
