7afe head on a stock blacktop

Postby 78ke30 » Wed Feb 06, 2008 4:57 pm

Just wondering if there would be any issues ie: pistons/valves hiting or issue with running stb (instead of itb) with stock comp.

Planning a 7age 20v and wanting to get headwork done to the 20v head but car is daily driver.

thought about buying another head adn get that worked? then swap over when done, and sell old head?

seems more logical, especially as daily driven

pretty sure from what he says: he has a 7afe long block, and wants to put the head on his blacktop bottom end until his blactop head is finished having work done to it.

would be a waste of time and money if it's even possible.

I think you have to be careful with blacktops as they became an interferance engine as opposed to all the other 4ages (so the piston can come up and hit the valves if it wants to)

But the amount of work needed to reqire in the 7afe ecu etc wouldnt be worth it. If needs be i would think a silvertop will run (ghettoly) on a blacktop ecu and those heads regularly come u pfor sale on trademe for $100
