Haven't you heard? An mr2 never cools down

Im pretty sure ive located it now anyway...the hard part is working out how the feck im going to get to it! You name it and it's in the way!

Deep 30mm socket, and an appropriate extension (preferably the wobble drive type)

Haha i hear that! Just wating on the ramps now - thanks for the help guys. At least when this happens to another newb they will have a FAQ to look at

BTW, the second hand sensor cost me $75 from Hillside auto wreckers in Upper Hutt. They still have another one if anyone else needs one.

An MR2 knock sensor is much easier to get to than a GT4 one! Heres a pic anyway, got mine on ramps at the moment

Its the sensor smack bang in the middle.

Cheers for that one mate. At first i thouht i wud have to navigate the gap between the exhaust and the all the suspension crap - but with a little lateral thinking i just out my hand up through the relatively big gap by the transmission

Right, all sorted. I got the new knock sensor in withouit a hassle. The old one was starting to corrode, so it's a good thing I got it out before it fused itself to the block

The error codes are still comming up (34 and 52), even after I reset the ecu and disconnected the negative terminal. Its boosting normally and running sweet as though

What else can I do to get rid of the stored error codes?

Try pulling the EFI fuse i think it is. Pulling it resets it afaik.

And leave it out, or disconnect the battery, for at least 30 seconds

Sweet as - that did the trick

The weird thing is the speedo read exactly, and I mean exactly, 155,000k when I replaced the sensor. The car must have known something :lol:
