To test and practice for what exactly? I live out on a dairy farm and theres plenty off paddocks and shingle roads around here.

we had one similar to that, was a sprint, came flying around corner at 110-120kph (blind corner) and a man was standing there on the road 8O he had gone into a ditch backwards but he was f**ken lucky not to be taken out

Lol ok. Theres a good bit of a shingle track just outside of dunsandel plenty of turns and noone uses it well except us:P at least i've never seen anyone down there. Plus the road leading out of it is all shingle til almost rolleston, very little traffic. All sealed roads near the are have low-to-none traffic so if your teaching someone to drive a manual itd be perfect.

Do you still have the supercharger and intercooler from the gtz? Would i be able to have a look, i've been looking for another intercooler but all the engines (except one) i've looked at are set up different to mine. Thanks.

I'll ask the farm owner if he'd let you use a paddock, all the cows are up near my house so the back end of the farm isnt being used at the moment. Maybe ask a sheep farmer for a paddock? That way theres no issues of hitting hydrants and troughs in the paddocks hehe.

Lol road cones are no issue at all  Well the selwyn river track isnt used and could be easily made to look like its shut off using road cones, most people arent game to go through cause some shingle can be a bit deep but if a levin with 5 people in it doing 95km can make it through and only belly once you should be fine

If you're testing a full-on rally car, I'd stay away from public roads at all costs. You won't have property insurance and the permission of all the homeowners you'll be passing. Motorsport NZ will consider you to be "bringing the sport into disrepute", you'll have your motorsport license revoked as well as being fined.

So in summary, if you can't find a paddock, stay home and watch motorsport on tv

in saying that, i know of a couple of areas that guys test on that are 'paper' roads, and ask the farmer to man one end, whilst a crew member mans the other with radio contact.

i have been plotting a couple of stages for our upcoming rally recently, and have stumbled across some very good farm roads, some of which i intend using for sprints. with the ever increasing road closure/event costs, gaining access to private venues is a way of future proofing events.

Corey, if you are still looking for a venue in about 6 weeks, give me a holler as i will be looking to do some testing once the car is back together.

furthermore, we are holding an autocross next weekend near Pleasant Point if you are keen.

won't be trailering that far for testing, i now know of some good private farm roads i may use once i have done initial testing on Levels.

next weekend is grass, and will update tomorrow as we have had to change paddocks.
