car physics are some of the best i've seen on a console.rwd drives like a rwd , and the traction and tyre physics are really good. in GT4 you would wheel spin an 800hp supra and not move then suddenly grip in whatever gear, in forza 2 you will wheelspin a lot if you keep it pinned but at part thottle it will grip and start to move forwards. tyre temperatures are realistic so a high power 2wd car is a bastard to get off the start line when the tyres are cold but really easy to balance when warmed up.

the cars are done in a class system and ranked from 0-999 , based on power-weight ratios and tracion etc. example an A class car might be 650-850 points, and the challenges becomes to make the best A class car you can and stay under 850 points. once your car exceeds 999 points it becomes U class (undrivable) and they have their own class. race cars are separate and are ranked from R4-R1.

it also allows for engine and drivetrain swaps, 2jzgte 2000gt , 13b TT mx5 , Ls7 commodores, all manner of hybrid hondas etc etc pretty cool feature as you can make some mean sleepers to suprise people with online.

online multiplayer is excellent, up to 8 per race, usually pretty free of lag, and that class system comes into its own. nothing better than taking down a field of ferraris and lambos with a VW beetle with a 4wd supercharged golf R32 engine.

it has an online auction system for your cars too, pretty similar to trademe type thing. you buy and sell using in game credits won in single player or online. if you sell you cars to the computer you only get 100credits so it worth using this feature, can also make some good money on it , buy cars cheap and selling them for a profit so you cna credits to modify your own cars with.

the game has the best collection of car licenses ive ever seen, so its has almost all the european car brands, porsche, lamborghini, ferrari, audi etc etc. they have been releasing new tracks and cars almost monthly too, they're up to about 15 extra cars now and there have been 2 extra tracks drivable in about 5 variations.

buuuy it you know you want to

I like the wii cause in my mind its a KISS machine, and half the time thats all i want, i want something thats fun & good for a laugh with friends over a few drinks, and something that i can just pick up and play for a bit or relaxing.
Most of the time i can't be bothered learning all the intracasies of a particular game, so anything that takes more than about 1/2 an hour to learn is not going to interest me.

Likewise i don't really care if its got the best graphics, or can play HD/Bluray, if i want something to do that i'll buy a standalone player.

Gamming is all about fun, and i think wii captures that the best.

Oh & i like the challenge of the wii controls in some games, try driving with the wiimote, now thats a challenge!

Although maybe when i'm not a student i'll buy a PS3 for GT5
Ending up with spare parts in assembling things since 1983

We just got a 360 in the office. Might play a bit of Forza 2 before I go home today :)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I've been told that Bluray + 1080i is a spectacular sight to behold.

Concur, I just bought myself a 360 (and I was a staunch anti-xbox pro-ps2 man!) and Forza, and the gameplay/physics are LEAGUES ahead of GT4, and GTHD (at this early point). For starters, it feels like the car is actually on the road, the car interacts with armco and tyre barriers far more realistically, and I think even the fine tuning of the vehicles is superior to GT.

Sadly, I think the lack of cars in Forza as opposed to GT4 is a very fair tradeoff. Multiplayer (split screen) is way more fun too. Sounds are better. The engine/drivetrain swaps rule.

Graphics are iffy tbh, the cars are a little tooooo shiny and lack the fine detail of GT4... but once again, a fair tradeoff.

NFS Pro Street is kinda ok too, mostly cos you can paint cars in matte colours though
