4 or 5 stud?

Postby deaf_rattle » Fri Feb 29, 2008 7:59 pm

Looking at my options, i have the parts to convert to 5 stud, but this will require new bearings.

I have found suitable wheels in 4 stud so no dramas there.

People have said for high power cars 5 stud would be better.

Is it really that much of a concern?

Cheers

My personal opinion is that 5 stud is a fashion. The equipment is heavier and therefore makes the car slower.
Unless you need the 5 stud hubs to fit bigger brakes, or if you have an army of 5 stud wheels, I can't see the point.

when doing decent power upgrades some certifiers specify that you require 5 stud hubs,

IMO it is easier to get 5 stud wheels, plenty more styles to choose from,

Yeah found that too,
Have been so close to converting mine to 5 stud too,
and probably will when we upgrade the wheel size.

there is no real performance improvement but as brendon says as far as fitment goes, its a bitch.
