Wheel Bearing

Postby Timoz » Mon Mar 10, 2008 10:39 pm

Hi guys, does anyone know how much is the wheel bearing for a AE111 with super strut suspension cost? and is it worth to replace it or doesn't it affect anything?

It is the front ones...my friend told me it would cost me a fortune to get it replaced.

i'm not sure on cost but if you go here and take note of what info you have to provide, you will get an email back with prices

What is the actual problem, have you failed a WOF due to the bearings being stuff or are you just fixing them before they have a problem?

just so you're aware , if you drive it too long with a bad bearing you will likely damage the hub and cost yourself even more.

normally not stupidly expensive, usually costs 250-300 odd all up for bearing+labour when i've had them done on varous cars. unsure whether being superstrut would affect the price, but i cant see how it would.

How is 250-300 not stupidly expensive?

Wheel bearings are stupidly over priced, get good connections and you can halve the cost of parts. $175 is a normal price for 1 wheel bearing, but you can get them for a lot cheaper then that  .

rear bearings on my ae111 are part of the hub if I recall right..... so thats why its quite a cost I think.

I just got a ts member to tighten mine up and its been sweet for years

Nah thats on it's own, and adding normal labour it would add up to the prices stated above. Which sucks  .

so i win then smartass

i'm quoting what i got charged with labour inclusive as from the sound of it the original poster will be paying someone to do it for them, and not everyone has trade connections in this particular industy.
am trying to be helpful for the original poster as to possible expected costs, but as i said, i'm unsure whether being SS would increase it dramatically.
