Looking for a diesel mechanic

Postby perfk » Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:13 am

I'm looking for recommendations on diesel mechanics... if anyone knows of trustworthy ones?

I've been recommended Titan (I think?) and Hydradiesel (I think?) - but can't find contact details for either of those (if I even have the names right). So any help is appreciated!

go see bruce mills i think it is out in seaview, titan - are cranes, who are owned by volvo, and unless its a volvo, they wont touch it, failing that also try seaview machinery and trucks.

in the immediate future possibly just an oil change
also need it run through it's CoF (so whatever work results from that - plus also I used to get my old mechanic to take the truck in for me... as I found a little bit of rather crap treatment when a girl takes in a horsetruck... they seem to be out to fail ya!)

then in the longer term just a good realationship with a diesel mechanic that I can trust. I have a mitsubishi fm515 1987 - it's in pretty good condition, and I'd like it to stay that way :)

Found that the trick with horse trucks is to either take it in when the testing station isn't really busy or go in when it's busy with a lot of leg showing and talk really nicely to the guy who's doing it. I used to do the former and my wife did the later but sold the truck now and brought a float instead. Didn't really need the ability to travel 5 horses and have accomodation when we only got 3 horse's and 2 in work. Missed the accomodation at hoy tho :(

Hi

Sorry I haven't been online for awhile just saw your post.

Unfortunately we are way too busy to do perks, but if you have a Mitsi Titan Plant will work on it or you could try Seaview Machinery as they are the local heavy Mitsi dealership. I've had dealings with them in my last job & didn't have any problems, Morrie is the bosses name. If you need Mitsi parts & don't want to pay genuine prices try Multispares on Hutt Road.

Probably wouldn't recommend Hydradiesel although I think they have got some new mechanics since I've been out of the trade.

Richard Dalziel at Diesel & Equipment is a good guy, family friend of Jacob's.

Take your pick, I'm sure you can find someone to help you out.

Jake works at Titans and can give you advice if you need it. Can get him on 568 4044 during the day or PM me.

Cheers

make sure you have full chassis number if she's an import for parts!
I'm not too fluent on the mechanics around here but all the above opinions sound pretty bang on.
