Wheel Fitment (AE92)

Postby gurutasker » Sun Mar 16, 2008 11:24 am

Just a quick question regarding a AE92 GT Corolla sedan.

Has anyone ever tried to run 15 x 7 inch rims with say 205 / 50 R15 tyres on them?

On my ae92 Trueno:

I've have 2 sets of 15x7's, which I've calculated them to be +40 offset. I have had to fit 5mm spacers on the rear and I still have troubles with anything but zero camber (on the rear).

Thats with 205/55's and 205/50's.

This is with aftermarket struts though.

Bring your car to my place and we can try them if you want (pm me).

Cheers for that...

Was wondering about the offsets... most of the rims I am finding are only +35 unfortunately... and even with some large spacers that may not be enough

Well just checking with his calculator here:

the lower the offset the further out the wheel is from the strut.

Ah

That's good to know thank you.
I would have thought adding spacers would increase the offset, not decrease it. Maybe i'm reading the diagram wrong

I've got 195/50/15 and they rub sometimes on full lock, so not sure how you would go with 205

Rub on the front?

Strange... it's normally the back that has clearance issues.
You've lowered yours though haven't you?

I had 215 on my ae92 gtz. :P
Fronts were fine, backs rubbed but were all good after i put some 5mm spacers on rears.

Terrible idea to have that size tyres so replaced them asap.

Mr Midget,
ive got 15x7's on my ae92, and can run 205's
but when i changed my shocks to the platforms, i could only run 195's on the rear but 205s were still all good on the front
bug me on msn and i'll find wat offsets etc my rims are, they are in a book next to my comp at home (i may have said what they are on TT80's, i cant remember)

35 is the best offset to run , i have those on my ae92 with 15 x 7 rims , no rubbing , i run spacers to change my track width , but please note this is on a race car , otherwise i dont condone spacers 8)

15x6.5 40 offset - 205/50/15 rub in rear, fine in front
15x7 35 offset - 195/50/15 fine
15x7 35 offset - 195/55/15 fine
15x7 35 offset - 205/50/15 fine
and when i put my platforms in, on race rubber it rubbed in the rear with 15x7 205/50/15, but is fine with 195/50/15
