ae101 headdy wiring

Postby AE82 FXGT » Fri Mar 21, 2008 4:14 pm

Hey all, I recently purchased an ae101 levin.

It didn't come with a headunit but I notice it has factory front components, a front centre speaker, two rear coaxials, and a small sub in the parcel shelf.

I haven't looked that closely at the wiring yet, but I'm assuming it runs passive crossovers for the fronts and some sort of low pass system for the sub?

So would the wiring be just the same as every other ae101 I've wired, and any headunit do?

Thanks.

No they have factory amps under the front seats, more problems than they are worth.

One under each seat?

Is it possible to replace them with an after market amp and use the factory wiring?

I don't really want a good stereo, I just want it to go, I've got my real car for music (this is just a runabout that I plan to sell afterward).

So with the stereo not working do you figure that the amp(s) may have crapped out already, hence they took out the headdy and told thats why it doesn't go?

So what would be the best way to go about getting the stereo up and running?

Re-wiring the whole lot?

Thats what i did in the mr2 yeah. You wont get the factory sub/center speaker running though. You would just take the wireing from amp to speakers, and run it direct to the headunit.
