Would old fuel cause these problems?

I was driving a car and it was really gutless and wouldn't rev out past about 2500 rpm.

There was nothing wrong with it last time I drove it but it hasn't been driven for months now and the fuel hasn't been changed.

Is it a fair assumption that the problems described are caused by old fuel?

Also, is it ok to just pour heaps of new fuel in the tank and mix it with old fuel or should I drain ALL the old fuel first?

There is like 3 litres MAX of old fuel in there.

That could do it. Chuck some fresh stuff in and go for a bit of a run. The old stuff should mix in, you'll notice if its getting any better or not

yeah old fuel will do that.
if you load it up with fresh fuel it will mix with it and hopefully help.

when i left my car sitting for ages the dizzy packed a shit too , was sending intermittent triggers to the ECU. something else to consider if the car has a dizzy.

other option is to try new plugs as old fuel can be a bastard on plugs, it usually burns off though and starts running better once the new fuel gets through it.

Cool. That's reassuring. The car's done less than 100kms since the engine was rebuilt so because of that I am hoping it is only old fuel. I will give it a go and see how it goes. Thanks guys
