Seems to be the case on JZA80 supras.

TOYWGN - How do you know it's an open diff? Some torsens don't act the same way as clutch type lsds because they have no preload, so the best way of checking is to take the rear cover off and look inside.

Had it on the hoist at work and the wheels spin the opposite way if you turn one of the wheels. plus doin a burnout only gets one wheel goin which really sux!!!!!

with torsen, lifting up and trying to spin the wheels will not result in same results as with clutch type LSD.
But if you have torsen and do a skid it should do both wheels.

Yep, as edwagon says. JZX90/100 got the A01* and B01* signifying small size & bolt pattern to half shaft change.
Earlier big toyotas would have a LSD if B, but you need a D to get a torsen in these. Best way as mentioned is a good skid to find out.
Hard to find at the best of times unfortunately, last odd one got snapped up at around $1k!

Would the later model JZA80 diff not work in these then? That's when the half shafts on those changed over to the new pattern from memory... around 96'?
