1kg?

You'd be better off pissing on the fire - and it'd be cheaper.....

Actually if it was petrol or oil (why else would there be fire for an extended period of time?) then pissing on it would make it worse, same as spraying it with a hose, would just spread more :P

I dunno about you, but I'd rather have a 1kg extinguisher like the one I have now than nothing at all, at least you have a chance of saving your car if there was ever an incident. Cheap insurance against possible massive loss, IMO.

People race cars around tracks at times, not sure if you are familiar with such a concept 8O , BUT to do so you are required to carry a 1kg fire extinguisher to be able to race.

clearly the point of this thread is above your head so how about just NOT post at all. kthxbi

xsspeed - not sure to be honest, can't read the fine print of the online mailer

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

It sounds more like a "cover our arses" rule. Seriously - ever used a 1kg fire extinguisher? Save yourself some time, and possibly your car, and buy a single 2kg one......

If on the track and you have a fire, assuming the other people on the track aren't w@nkers, within a minute you will have 8 x 1kg extuinguishers pointing at your car... should hold it down long enough for a flag marshal to get there with a bigger extinguisher.
Point is that if everyone carries one and is prepared to use it, it makes the chance of a damaging fire less.

Hang on - are you only allowed 1kg? So if you have 2kg ones you'll get told "no"?

No 1kg is the minimum...

You could stick a automatic fire suppression system in if you wanted.

The whole reason for this thread was to offer people wanting to try out track racing or similar a cheap option for a fire extinguisher.

I'm not doubting a 2kg will be better, I was simply offering a heads up on a cheap 1kg option, I guess that was missed by some people :P

I have a 1kg one in my project car and I'd say its better than none, its no fire truck tho.... its just for a bit of piece of mind

Totally agree. Which reminds me, I must get around to putting an extinguisher in my latest car. Everything except my scooter has an extinguisher.
