Dunno, maybe they didn't have his plate so he could've gotten away and done it again? Save the guy from killing himself if he lost it later?

Looks around ??!? sorry just making sure we are not in china ?? no we are not ok ok then

*looks around*

Democracy? free speech

We are in NZ right?

I like these kinds of posts, it promotes our free speech and allows us all to voice our views and at the least talk about this stuff, not just read in the paper or on the News.

No need to get upset, gosh guys its just words on the screen, just an opinion thats all.

Democracy
Others have different opinions, we debate, no need to get heated and want to call each others names or have a fight

I think we can all agree to leave that to our MPs in the Government yeah?

for some reason i just want to say
"and thats how babies are made"

*shrug*

So you come on to the forum and abuse the shit out of people straight of the bat?

Does that count as a bitch post?

You're not serious are you?

A motorway. Most motorways you can't just do a u turn correct? you need to find a place to do a u turn. So the cop goes past the guy, locks him at 180, has to find a place to turn around, and by the time he catchs back up to the guy hes still doing 180?

Why is that hard to believe? Was do you think a cop was following with no lights, for 3km at that speed, right by his bumper.

WHAT THE $&#$%.

The next overly aggressive, or personal attack post in this thread will result in it being locked. Anyone having trouble controlling themselves is more than welcome to go and read other threads on the forum, or even stop coming to Toyspeed at all if these kinds of threads get on your nerves. They are very common, and we wouldn't want you to burst a vein or anything on our behalf.

People need to remember that we're living in a country where one is granted a licence, which is issued based on the assumption that we will follow the set rules and laws regarding controlling a one ton piece of metal at speed along a public road. If you break the speed limit, you're breaking the law, and deserve everything the police deem fit to throw at you. Sure there are other laws that are far more grey (exhaust limits etc), but speeding is speeding. If you're locked in by a piece of calibrated police equipment that registers you as having broken the speed limit, man up, and face the consequences. Everyone else has to. If you get off with a warning, count yourself lucky and try to remember to OBEY THE LAW next time.

Anyone who thinks they're special, and has some kind of God-given right to risk other peoples' lives and property, should be the first ones to be taken off the road for good. Granted, many of us break the limits, but when you're talking about a minor infraction, its a different kettle of fish to doing over double the posted limit. That is pure testosterone driven, want-to-prove-how-big-my-willy-is stupidity. If you're such an awesome driver, take it to a proper venue, and prove it against other people who have taken the time to hone some kind of skills, instead of against other diesel-on-the-road idiots.

I would seriously LOVE to see anyone arguing with these points, spend ONE night on the roads with the police units who have to go and clean up car crash fatalities where drink driving / speeding / racing is involved. I'm sure you'd love to know that at in most cases of fatalities, the deceased peoples' eyes are still open and staring when the police get there. Awesome thing to face every day, right?

I don't know if its just a sign of my old age, or that I've been lucky enough to visit a country where performance cars are incredibly rare, but I see people trying to defend their acts of driving like crazed loons on the road, and can't help but think of the Darwin Awards. Snwtoy has summed it up perfectly, banning cars other than track events, and having a perfect public transport system would be the ultimate answer. Once again its the few (or is it?) wrecking it all for the many. There will always be people with little or no self control, who just have to floor it in the traffic light granprix, or absolutely have to beat the car next to them onto the on-ramp, or up to 180, or whatever the case may be.

im 18 and have had the boyracer card thrown at me a couple times from people on the roads haha, i think the best idea of trying to slow them down is wat was suggested before, u can only drive 1300cc cars on ur restricted and not until a certain age can u move up to anythign over 2lts, i think trying to get the government to build more places for drags skids whatever isnt the best way as it was said before most of the cars doing stupid speeds are barely legal

I agree with around 96.3% of everything you've said - and including this last bit really so basically everything you've said. - although the above statment is very bordering on the grey area of "why dont we all just drive Prius'". If you've got a fast/modified car, you WILL give it "the beans" once in a while. Fact. Don't anyone try and deny it. But that's not the point of this thread :) :)

Need to expand on the idea more. 1300 can = fast. Think worked batty, think worked starlet. Limiting engine capacity will not slow down those with enough money. And besides, most, if not all 1300cc cars can still hit 150, which is 50km over the 100km limit. Prehaps, speedcut rather than capacity limit. And a WOF requirement to have this said speedcut, but then how do you stop somebody reverse engineering it?

I dont think theres a simple solution. People will always speed.

Only problem with limited CCs is that most of the time it doesnt stop them from doing the speeds it just takes them longer to get there :?

IMHO the best bet would be learner drivers cars must be under a certain power per weight ratio.

I'd actually back that up with a number of other changes, which would hopefully start producing better all round kiwi drivers:

- Car must be Normally Aspirated.
- No or limited mods.
- A max power per weight ratio based on official manufacturers specs (under .12HP/Kg ? ).
- All learners must undergo 5 practical driving lessons.
- All restricted drivers must complete a theory and practical defensive driving course.
- Full licence is only issued after the completion of a prodrive course (or similar).
- Any vehicle driven by a learner\restricted driver must have 3rd party insurance.
- Any driving infringement means instant loss of license, 6 month stand down, must begin at learners level again.

This wouldn't be a quick fix and wouldn't solve things over night, but could be a good start to an effective more long term solution.

i'm all for compulsory 3rd party insurance Solitaire....

but its in the same boat as WOF and rego..... they are compulsary..... yet f**kwits that cause these problems to start with often have neither.

only answer is a 1 strike f**k off your out... then deport them to Antarctica with a blanket and a can of baked beans.

how many people do you think would continue to act this way if their mates one by one get sent there? 8)
