Tyre pressures?

What should tyre pressures be on my Supra for:

215/45/17 front and 235/45/17 rears

38-40 psi for nz's crappy roads

that high? i used to go for 35 on my falcon when i had 18s.

do you suggest this psi to avoid wear on outer edges?

I have been running about 45 in the fronts and 40-42 in the rear's - but I really wasn't sure what I should be running

When I run under 38-40psi in the fronts they looked "flat"....

Wear on outer edges, is probably more a wheel alignment problem, too much/little camber or toe.

some audi tyres take 46psi as directed from the sticker inside the hoor hinge, its up to preferance, remember that supras are quite heavy so being in the 40s is all good

i would agree if one shoulder was wearing, but if both are wearing faster than middle of tyre its more likely to be underinflation

then again most of the falcons and commy taxis we see at work seem to wear the outer edges on the front and the inners on the back!

Yes, but the main reason is the crappy roads when you hit a pot hole with low pressure it can cause eggs on the tyres. Also the sidewalls can seperate from the tread due to under inflation especially if you load the vehicle up.

These pressures are recomended for 40 profile and under.

thats probably because taxis doing a lot of turning on the spot for the fronts, and the rears could be to carting around too many obese people

Yeah my bad, I interpreted incorrectly I thought he meant outside edges when looking at the car as a whole (ie right side on RHF and left side on LHF)

When looking at one tyre, it would be underinflation

yeah sorry meant both sides of tyre

my old falcon wore the LHS of the LHS front tyre, and RHS of RHS front tyre when i first got it - obvious alignment issues.

however my next set of tyres also wore in the same spot, even with alignmenty sorted, i imagined this was due to cornering with the engine weight and being under brakes (and then getting the ass out around the apex)
