AA60 repower?

Postby Hachiroku » Tue Apr 15, 2008 10:22 pm

I'm trying to decide on what engine to use in my AA60 Carina. I want something around 150-200hp that will be cheap and straightforward to fit and won't upset the balance of the car. Saw this on shaftme and wondered if it would be worth considering: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =149803824
Have already thought about 4age (not enough torque), 18rg/3tgte (too old), 5mge (too heavy), 3sge (too tricky/expensive to make rwd) and 3vzfe. Any other advice or suggestions would be appreciated :)

that 1g looks the business, i would suggest an altezza 3sge beams but probably out of price range.

other option would be to build 7age turbo- proven power there

I've seen one with a 1UZ in it. Aparently it goes in without too much hassle.
From memory, RomanV knows the guy who owns it, and by the sounds of it, it was easier to get in there than Roman's redtop 3SGE!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

From a cost/handling/power/ease point of view get an altezza 3sge with factory computer, loom, intake, exhaust and gearbox.
I have seen complete setups sell for $2000.
Find an 1S powered carina or corona (rack and pinion steering) and grab the crossmember and mounts.
Just about one of the most bolt up options around in my opinion.

Otherwise 3rz-fe setup... loads of torque to get the old carina going.

Not sure if Brendon sold this or not?

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

4agze = 4age with a bit of torque, will bolt straight in too and up to ya box. and i think they only need like 7 wires hooked up to run.
