Toyota Altezza Tarmac Rally / Race car

Needs bonnet, front bumper, wiring and plumbing to complete after brief engine bay fire.

Virtually no use in the past 7 years. Straight and clean.

Originally built by TNZ for the NZ Touring Car Championship, this car has been converted to tarmac rally spec by Neil Allport. Total investment in the car 300+k. New 280+BHP (dyno sheet) Lyn Rogers 3S-GE engine not yet run in. Fresh 6 speed close ratio dog box. Proflex suspension, Rose jointed, Alcon brakes, lightweight 16" wheels, TRD 4.7 LSD. Sparco seats, Willans harnesses, Coralba Tripmeter, Pi dash, hydraulic h/brake, momo wheel, carbon interior trim, on board extinguisher system. Probably the quickest 2 litre non-turbo tarmac car in NZ. Spares including suspension arms, brake rotors, wheels and new tarmac tyres, standard long engine / diff / halfshafts etc.

An absolute gift at $28,000 the lot

Pretty mean really.

TNZ must have thought there was something pretty good about the Altezza to use it for Targa, and Track(superlap) in the turbo guise...

Pity they seem to have pretty much abandoned them all.

It was built as a two litre touring car, then sold when that series died out following attrition, and then the BMW's pulling out. It did Targa in private hands some years later. Not sure about Superlap, presuming the same, as Superlap is only recent.

the Altezza that was supposed to go to superlap was the TRD one, a completely different car and seperate from the touring car programme, TNZ got out of the touring cars so many many years ago!

The car above is certainly looking a lot better than last time it was posted on these forums!!!

good point. Shopping list for a generic race car build would be (from personal experience) like:

roll cage - homologated 6 point (basic spec) $1500
stripping and body work = $0
painting in & out through a mate - $300 inc. paint
seats & belts (approved) $700 + make seat brackets
extinguisher - $40

engine mods + wheels + suspension = as much as your wallet can supply

mind you thats for a 'club car' completely different league from a spec'd Altezza

Goes to show how good the design of the standard intake manifold is...

Lynn adapts the quad throttle kits to use the standard plenum, as it's worth a fair few HP more that way.
