Forgive the noob questions but... are there any special requirements i.e must have helmet/fire extinguisher etc?

i will check on the helmet, i dont think its needed for the autocross.

generally an Autocross requires a helmet and 100% cotton overalls, If you run this event and someone gets hurt you will be up a certain creek without a wooden boat mover.

A motorkhana however does not need either

No I can guarantee you if someone gets hurt and you don't take the proper safety precautions there will be repercussions.

EDIT: when trying to register it comes up with error 500...

i never said there wont be issues if theres an incident.... but theres no law saying a bunch of guys cant get together in a paddock and drive around cones.
if you want to run under MSNZ sanctioning then yes you need to meet certain criteria. but you dont have to do that.
