are you trying to say drifters dont crash? even more so at practice sessions?
are you suggesting its perfectly sweet to have people trying to do circuits (or 'grip' racing as most driftards tend to call it ) whilst people practice thier drifting?

because id really rather not have the guy in front of me kick out his tail whilst i'm getting ready to apex the corner.

"sweet just comin up to this corner, paying attention, gotta get my braking done before the tur- oh wait, no, abandon that, gotta wait for this guy to stop showboatin"

I never said that there should be drifter and gribba on track at same time, I was merly shocked at the number of people who didnt want drifter at the track day at all, I'd never suggest dirfter and grippa should be on track at same time, Just didn't understand why grippas wouldnt want to share a track day with drifters so long as there were seperate sessions for both drivng styles

I'm not saying drifter don't crash either, but id say there are jsut as many monkeys at tracks day who can't drive to save them selves as there are a drift practise days

This is exactly my opinion. If the day was split into two halves, grip in the morning drift in the afternoon then that would be fine. However running grip/drift/grip, etc would end up with the track getting way too much crap on it for grip racers to put in a solid effort. Last thing you want is to lose traction from what has come onto the track froms someone else. Sure its possible this may happen with grip racers losing it every now and then, but the impact is lessened through not having drifters compete inbetween sprints.
Anyway thats my 2c and I think we're totally going off topic.

I'm running a day at Taupo on 26th May that is both drift, grip and a combo option where you can do half drift and half grip. Each style is out at different times. This is with the NZ Silvia club and 'others' are welcome to come. If you are keen we have places free at the moment. enter here www.photoworks.co.nz/trackday

If you run a drift day at Taupo there is a bond that must be paid on top of your normal track hire and you must be very tough on clean up and repair. I'm managed to arranged a dual driving day which has taken some huge effort.

If anyone would like to know more about it you are welcome to PM me or email me on trackday@photoworks.co.nz. The day will be run with regultions and rules to take away the muppet factor so if you are worried that drifters will be just out there to be idoits you are mistaken. I will not be allowing peole to be fools in their attempts to drift. Track two is a great track to dift on and learn. I see a few people bag the idea and won't consider being out there with drifters... there is no way in hell a person with a brain would put a non drifter out with a grip driver, the track management would shut you down. Drifting is here to stay so I find it exciting that people want to do it in a safe and controlled enviroment to learn. 10 Points to the guys who are coming to play.

I have my usual day on Queens Birthday weekend (Monday) which is in the events section.



Don't need to re-invent the wheel, look around the online forum clubs and you'll find plenty of track time out there. There are huge costs to running these day so unless you can find at least 40 people to come, just tag onto someones elses. (voice of experience because at the moment it's a mission to find numbers due to tough money times)

They cry out for it for sure. In my experience when it comes to the crunch there are many people who don't put their money where their mouths are.
