So im finally doing putting a 1j into my na mk4 supra

Postby Coke » Tue May 20, 2008 11:28 pm

Im bored and want boost so im putting a low km 1jzgte into my 93 aero supra.

Have spoken to a guy thats done it so I realise there will be a bit of wiring involved.

Anyone here done this?

Swap will be happening in uni holidays (1 month) in Hamilton.

Know any good auto sparkys in Hamilton?

Will have a mint 2jzge for sale as well.

go for the w58 if you are not going to run more than 250rwkw. nicer to drive than the r154. if you haven't bought the engine already, you should seriously consider going to www.otomoto.com.au and clicking on turbos, then "NEW KIT". the jza80 upgrade kit is awesome, . 250rwkw at 12psi, strong off boost too.(twice the power you have now) you could keep costs down by doing the intercooler kit yourself(trade me $500) and buying turbo injectors (430cc) quite commonly available(replace your factory 315cc ones. you wont need to upgrade fuel pump- its perfectly capable of those power levels. the real key in tying it all together would be that adaptronic plug in ECU. put the electrician costs that you would have spent, towards that maybe. just something to consider. you wont need to pull the motor,or feel sad when someone picks up your mint 2JZGE for under $500!

Cheers for that link! I have thought about what your suggesting but been told I would need to upgrade my headgasket if I want to turbo the na. Will give it more thought tho. And yea think you right about the gearbox, I cant imagine massive power levels for what I want to do so w58 it is.

yeah you wont need to decompress the motor as long as you run sensible boost(obviously 12psi is fine) and (importantly) you have a safe tune.

I run 20 psi in my internally stock engine naturally aspirated engine. As people have said above it all comes down to a good tune.
