Biggest motor sport win by a kiwi since Denny Hulme won the f1 championship

Defantly bigger than him winng the championship, Winning the 500 mean's more than basically anything in the states, except winning the nascar cup

oh i agree its huge, very huge.

harder to win a championship than a single race though!
gotta stick to that story, its my defence when holden win bathurst!!

its like daytona, monaco, bathurst.
each is only a single race in a series.
but a win at that particular race is something a bit special!

hopefully he can take the championship this year!
i wonder if F1 teams consider him too old now....

I don't think we will go to f1 now, the latest recruit from the states borbasis has not been impressive,

I'd also say he will be on fairly good coin with the chip Ganssia team, plus isn't it a 1.3 million us purse for taking home indy :)

Champion ship should be his, if he keep up the same consistant form all season, but it is a long season 17 or 18 races

Well done Scott, great racing, just seen the last few laps on YouTube and under pressure from Vitor Meira, he kept cool and held his nerv in traffic

Well done the 'Milk Man'

2nd greatest day in NZ motorsport :D

2.5 million American dollars I think the commentators said, but I could be mistaken.

Problem is he won't ever go to Formula 1, Teams seem to look rather inwardly nowadays for driver and would most likely go to GP2 before looking towards the indycar series which is a shame becuase I think he has all the attributes of a class F1 driver

good work scott!

I don't think scott will make it to formula 1, he earns enough at target, and to get into f1 he would probably have to be test driver first - because he has been racing circles for too long (2-4 road races a year is not enough right hand corners)

I think the last few "Imports" from the US scene have been less than impressive.

Yes Villenuve one the F1 title once, but then proved to be spectaularly average.

JPM, Michael Andretti, Bourdais, de Matta all have been average at best.

That is the main reason why a team owner would choose a GP2 driver, on top of the fact that the GP2 guys probably come cheaper than a "Proven" indy driver.

The Andretti / Mansell swap said it all for me really, Mansell went to Indy Cars and won the championship on the first go, where Michael Andretti came to F1 as a Indy champion, did 13 races, scoring few points with a best result of 3rd and then ran home to daddy.

Great win by Dixon :) Proud of the guy and proud to be a Kiwi today :)

He should stick with Indy, he already is making enough cash and already has the respect from everyone.

If he was to move onto something else, new challenge, id say go NASCAR :)

Andretti's problem wasn't a lack of talent, it was that he tried to base his F1 driving career from the USA, returning home after every race instead of staying in Europe. That's a big mistake and one reason why F1 teams prefer to take someone for the GP2 series that is used to the lifestyle. As to the recent imports, JPM was really the only one who had the equipment to do the job, he also had the talent, but lacked the temperament to succeed in F1. F1 is a team sport and JPM wasn't a team player.

That said however, I don’t think Dixon would make it in F1, he would have to go into a mid to bottom end field to prove himself, and he’s stated in the past that he won’t do that.

Great result for Dixon but I reckon there would'nt be to many drivers in that IRL/Champ car series that would actually do well in F1 though.

2.5 million for the win, and 500k for qualifying on pole.
