FX just means it's a hatch back. If it's a FX-GT then the silver top 4age, if it's just a plain FX or FX-G then probably a 4afe

Pretty sure the FX designates 2 door hatch, cos the 4 door hatch's are not FX's,

and there is FX-SR too, they are 4a SOHC carb'd engine, similar to what the AE85's had.

You mean the 3A-U?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

but that's AE82 shape right? I think snwtoy is talking about AE101 shape which I'm sure would have 4A-F's at the very least like AE92s did.

i'm pretty sure some of ae100's had the 2e carb'd motor so some of them may have had the 4a carb? not too sure about that one

AE 100's all had 1.5 5A something engines
AE101's ALL had 4A something engine
EE100s have 2E's in them

in a 90 series FX anything just mens its got FXGT type frontal panels & lights
FX-ZS and FX-ZI came as 4dr hatch backs with FX-GT panels & lights and just had 4 & 5 AFE engines

can also get FX something 4dr hatch back AE82's which came with 4A-E engine

Sorry I used the AE100 term loosely, should have said '100 series' but yeah strx7 is right, though I wasn't aware of the 4door 90 series hatches with 'FX' badging?

did any of the corollas come with 4e engines, if so what are they ee101?

My red rolla wagon is a EE104, and it has a 5efe engine. Also has a 3 speed auto box, and leaf springs in the rear.

your EE104 is 2wd aye, yet AE104's are 4wd and run a 4AFE engine.

Never heard of an AE84

I googled it (ae84) the other day for fun, came up with a few images, mostly ae86s with ae84 as the caption, but one said something about 4wd, maybe someguy adapted a 4wd drive train to fit and decided to call it ae84? <<(most likely scenario)
